  1. I put my guitar to them a couple of years ago to get the volume pots replaced as they were getting increasingly scratchy. Had them replaced with stock Gibson pots but after trying them out realised that I wasn't getting any volume under 6 on the knob. Handy. Took them back and had them put another set of pots in and still the volume was zero under 6. Went back to the shop to complain again and was told that the problem was with my pickups...

Ordered some CTS pots from RS Guitarworks... fitted them myself and I'm still using the guitar to this day.

Pretty hesitant to have R&B look at my guitars now.

  2. What kind of amp do you have? This will alter the recommendations quite drastically. If it's a standard Marshall type then it more than likely uses EL34s. JJ EL34s are considered pretty decent for a good rock sound.

I think Fenders usually use 6L6 valves... but I'm a Marshall guy so I could be wrong.

I usually buy my valves from Hot Rox UK - Computer Matched Valves Guitar effects pedals Electro harmonix Guitar Strings as they're generally considered better than Watford Valves :: Watford valves is a U.K company that has become one of Europe's leading supliers of tested, graded and guaranteed valves to the professional music industry. - but I've never had any problems with Watford Valves.
