  1. Tama are a good solid brand like. Their Iron Cobra pedals are really good. I remeber playing them a few times. And the Iain Paice snare is one I really want lol! I love his playing...

I like it. I have had the kit 26 years now and it still sounds great. The new Evans G1/G2 heads rejuvinated it recently. The Ian Paice snare I got from Rhythm Base in Glasgow. Great shop with very helpful and knowledgable staff. Went looking for a maple snare told them the sound I was after (fat rock sound) and they advised the Ian Paice. Love at first strike and a good price too.

  3. We are a band doing 70's and 80's rock covers (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, ZZ Top, Ted Nugent, Deep Purple, Free, Aerosmith etc). We have been together for a couple of months and are working on some songs with a view to adding more to the list. The intent is to get a decent set list together and do some gigs.

The band at the moment consists of a singer, guitarist and drummer. We really need a bass player to anchor the band and fill out the sound. We are serious, but also want the band to be fun to play in. Done the whole ego thing years ago and don't want to go back there. We are currently rehearsing once a week, but will step this up when we get a full line up.

If you fancy playing some good old rock covers PM me.

  4. Recently formed outfit (guitarist, vocalist and drummer) currently in need of a bass guitarist to join us doing covers of some good old classic / heavy rock songs....

To-date we've been working on a preliminary set list to get it together as a band, which has been working out pretty well. Now we need a bass guitarist to get us properly off the ground!

Here are some covers we have been working on - but it's by no means fixed.......

    Free - Wishing Well

Whitesnake - Fool For Your Lovin

    Thin Lizzy - Don't Believe a Word

    Aerosmith - Sweet Emotion

Ted Nugent - Cat Scratch Fever

Montrose - I Got The Fire

Deep Purple - Smoke on the Water

ZZ Top - Gimme All your Lovin

Nothing too serious. The whole has to fun and enjoyable, but we do hope to gig in the future.

    Fancy giving it a go?

  5. Tank - Here you go. This is the only photo I have with me (offshore at the moment). I have a better one at home and can post that tomorrow when I get back. I brought the drum in 1989, but stopped playing in '96 and the snare has only been used a couple of times since then. Its in excellent condition.

  6. I saw them at the Kilburn Forum in London supporting Robert Plant in '88. What a great night that was. I agree with the others Francis Dunnery is an excellent guitar player and the rest of the band were no slouches either. They have reformed recently without Frances. I haven't heard their new album, but I will have to check them out again.

  7. I am looking to purchase a new snare and trying to wade my way through the countless option available. I play rock music and I am looking for a snare with a nice fat sound that will cut through.

I currently have a Tama 14 x 5 1/2 birch snare, but find it too bright with too much over ring. I have tried all head and tuning options and have given up trying to get a nice fat sound out it.

I am looking to get some info on others use to narrow my search in finding a snare that will produce a nice warm fat sound, but still cut through.

    Any suggestions greatly appriciated.
