  1. Best 3 Bands heard this year for the first time : Glasvegas, Santogold, James McMurtry Best gigs this year : Dick Gaughan, Leon Rosselson and Attila the Stockbroker on the same bill was pretty awesome Best Releases of 2008 : I've compiled my top 50 songs ! 50 best tunes of 2008 My Weblog Best Result of the Year : Liverpool losing to Barnsley Best Purchase of the year : ipod Biggest Disappointment : musically I'd say the Kings of Leon album Looking forward to 2009 : looks like there's a new Laura Marling album in the works
  2. Some fine suggestions there, much appreciated. Some bands weren't included because they're no longer active (Altered Images last album of new material was in 1983; Life Without Buildings broke up in 2002). Belle and Sebastian are missing only because I decided to go for the Campbell / Lanegan collaboration instead. Idlewild are one of a number of bands who missed out because I couldn't get excited enough about any of their songs - though I realise I'm in a minority over this ! Alisdair Roberts, on the other hand, was overlooked because I didn't know of him. I've just been listening to this track, which is certainly good enough to be on the list : .I've got my ticket to see Dick Gaughan next week - I'm looking forward to seeing the great man.
  3. I've put together a list of 50 top songs by 50 of my favourite Scottish bands / artists currently active - 50 top tunes from Scotland My Weblog . My own choices obviously, but I've tried to represent something of the variety of good stuff that's out there, and feature a few new bands. I'm interested to know what you all would have picked.
