  1. well we're trying to sort a tour for July/August so if anyone up in scotland fancies putting them on give me a shout at brewrecords(at)googlemail.com
  2. We have joined forces with Manchester's Kong to bring you a super dirty 7". We are over the moon to have them on board to do their first single with us! It is released on 28th July on Brew Records and is available on 500 limited transparent 7 inch vinyl (and the usual download channels), with artwork courtesy of Joby J Ford (The Bronx). Preorders available from Tuesday 1st July 2008 Visit the Brew Myspace for some exclusive samples shortly. There is also their recent live performance from Channel M on our myspace. MySpace.com - Brew Records I Concur single out now! - UK - Progressive / Progressive / Progressive - www.myspace.com/brewrecords Here's some nice words from Andrew Falkous on the band. Fitting... Kong is not a name chosen by accident. It does not describe an effeminate collection of callow fuckers thrust together by a desire to look plucked or sound eager to please. All are/were/shall be in other, perhaps more commercially viable bands, which is notable only because it fills out their biography and creates the impression of a deeper back-story, which becomes, by definition, massively interesting to idiots. Yes, Nancy was in Janes Addiction, and Milicent founded ITV. Kongs music, such as it is, takes all the risibly obnoxious elements of lots of very loud, credible bands, feeds it non-brand specific lager, then comes on it in its sleep. In truth, they are difficult band to describe unless you're a music journalist, in which case you'd probably pick a large animal (elephant, dinosaur or a fantastical creature of myth) and put it in an unusual place (Middlesbrough) with predictably madcap results. In summary - the first time I saw them play I felt a burning sensation on my arm and realised that I had developed eczema. The album, 'Snake Magnet', will follow when somebody grows balls and fucking puts it out there. Andrew Falkous 2008 (McLusky/Future of the left) Preorders for the vinyl will be available on Tuesday 1st July. In other hot news we will be doing a record release party with some amazing band upstairs at the library, leeds on Friday 25th July. Get on this bad boy and you can pick up the 7" early. Kong, Year Of The Man, Manatees and The Grand March. Very nice.

" Organ Magazine "Shades of Joy Division, MBV, GY!BE, and instrumental early Electrelane sweep and build in Lucky Jack, which goes beyond typical post-rock offerings with a clever 'math-sy' breakdown a-la Leeds counterparts O Fracas, and melancholic vocals straight down the shoegaze line." The Cuckoo Press "I Concur create a mellow, menacing sense of excitement with their sweeping floods of enigmatic guitar work highbrow lo-fi anyone ?" Manchester Music "I CONCUR have hit something here that really rings clear and true. I keep hearing them on the radio and find that, for once, my own taste is in good company: other people, it seems, like them as much as I do. Their soundscapes plunder guitarish Americana, epic Norse shimmers and English odd-ball songwriting, mashing them all as their own distinctive brew." 8/10 Whisperin & Hollerin The band are also recording a session for BBC Radio 1 at the end of the month at Maida Vale studios.
  10. I Concur have just been chosen to record a live session at Maida Vale studios at the end of the month for Huw Stephen's Radio 1 show! BBC - Humber - Entertainment - BBC Introducing Maida Vale Weekender
  11. here's an article on the BBC website which explains the story behind "Build Around Me". BBC - Leeds - Entertainment - Motorway madness!

  13. Here's some lovely press so far: "To use Interpol as a reference seems an almost slight, given the technical skill of the multiple guitar lines, yet the restrained and almost subtle nature of this oddly massive sound is something that can only be praised at the highest level. The crafting is immense." The Cuckoo Press "This is musical storytelling on a par with iLiKETRAiNS, but rather than merely providing a snapshot it tells the whole tale. With last year's EP I Concur raised more than a few eyebrows, and with this release they look set to do so again." Sandman "Rising Leeds band I Concur keep the flag flying for new, leftfield music and create a mellow, menacing sense of excitement with their sweeping floods of enigmatic guitar work highbrow lo-fi anyone?" Manchester Music "Suitably moving mixture of ethereal guitars and slow building rhythms, all circling that haunting melody" Subba-Cultcha "Single of the Month" "Citing God Speed! You Black Emperor, as well as Jonny Greenwood and Thom Yorke as influences probably explains why those guitars are straining at the bit to want to reach out into those far away undiscovered sound spaces - all moody and brooding." 16. are doing their first ever UK tour. It's a very small tour and they are not coming up to Scotland. Hoxton Bar & Kitchen - London, United Kingdom - Thursday April 17th Norwich Arts Centre - St. Benedicts Street, Norwich, Norfolk - Friday April 18th The Brudenell Social Club - Leeds, United Kingdom - Saturday April 19th Tumbledown - Farnborough, United Kingdom - Sunday April 20th We're putting them on in Leeds though so if anyone fancies a weekend away then come on down. This will be a very rare chance to see one the best and most amazing bands in the world. Here's all the info: Brew Records & Ruth Present Saturday 19th April - Brudenell Social Club - Leeds God Is An Astronaut God Is an Astronaut are an instrumental three piece hailing from the Glen of the Downs, Co. Wicklow, Ireland. They play some of the most intense and beautiful music you will ever hear. ""Far From Refuge" is anything but a cliche post-rock album. Rather, it is a masterpiece that finds the band's sound maturing." Jason - Somewherecold ***** "... hugely impressive tunes which continually build in intensity ... for fans of this kind of music, it's very much essential listening." - Paul Nolan - Hotpress 8/10 "Be it the simple lull of Sunrise in Aries or the mesmeric slap of sonics on the title track and Darkfall, there are very few times when GIAA fail to soar." - Jim Carroll - The Irish Times/Ticket "Raw emotive power" - 9/10 Nick Cowen - Drowned In Sound "It would be a crime not to tell you about this record." Metal Storm 9/10 "God is an Astronaut have produced an incredible piece of post-rock music that will stand the test of time." ***** Jason - Somewherecold.com Official Site Last FM Myspace Support from: These Monsters An instrumental group that rely too much on trying to be different and making a racket than causing any sort of pleasure. Their main problem is that they are just far too loud. Can anyone please tell me the point of using a saxophone if nobody can hear it? Too much unintelligible noise and feedback that just plain hurts. A poor man’s Quack Quack, I’d hate to be their neighbours. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that this is one of the most promising bands in the instrumental arena. If These Monsters can pull together a debut album with anything close to the vision, idea and musicianship as this EP, they will definitely become the U.K's answer to Explosions in the Sky. - The Silent Ballet Myspace Immune They've been away for a while recovering from a broken leg but Gizeh Record's industrial prog rock monster is back. Making timeless music is difficult and important. You may not fully understand how or why bands make such music, maybe you don't even care. Immune makes timeless music. An unearthly movement, that only after repeated listens begins to take shape. Not that these sounds are not immediate, some things just take more time and require a little more effort. Reference points musically could head towards Brainiac, Massive Attack, Tool or the later work of Sneaker Pimps, but to compare Immune to others does it a huge disservice; everyone needs to feel loved... "A breathtaking piece of work" Tiny Voices 10/10 "A triumph for British rock" Drowned In Sound 8/10 Myspace Gizeh Records MySpace.com - Brew Records - I Concur single now up! - UK - Progressive / Progressive / Progressive - www.myspace.com/brewrecords other gigs we've got coming up in Leeds: 22/02/07 - Library - Vessels, Itch, Cowtown & 1 more TBC 08/03/07 - Brudenell - i Concur, Her Name Is Calla, Wintermute & The Pattern Theory Tickets on sale now at See Tickets Seetickets.com

  18. The new double a-side from I Concur, 'Lucky Jack/Build Around Me', will be released by Brew Records on 10th March '08. It will be available on 7"vinyl and iTunes download. This is extra special for us guys as it's our first vinyl release. Wait til you hear the tracks. They sounds massive! We'll be putting on a very special launch gig with the lovely forest of sound at the Brudenell in Leeds on the 8th March. As well I Concur you'll also be able to see the superb Her Name Is Calla, Wintermute and The Pattern Theory. You'll also be able to get the single early on the night... To pre-order the single just click one of the "Buy Now" buttons on our myspace. You can also listen to both tracks in full. Also if you pre-order this single you will receive a free remix of Lucky Jack by Bracken. early reviews in so far: The Cuckoo Press "Shades of Joy Division, MBV, GY!BE, and instrumental early Electrelane sweep and build in Lucky Jack, which goes beyond typical post-rock offerings with a clever 'math-sy' breakdown a-la Leeds counterparts O Fracas, and melancholic vocals straight down the shoegaze line. Build Around Me has the atmospherics and well formedness of an Interpol hit, yet with lyrics focussed on the Moors. The shape of the song is a bleak and made of damp heather. To use Interpol as a reference seems an almost slight, given the technical skill of the multiple guitar lines, yet the restrained and almost subtle nature of this oddly massive sound is something that can only be praised at the highest level. The crafting of this song is immense."
  19. cheers guys. I'll sort this when i get home tonight
  20. Cheers for the help. I've sent pms to Fudge, Dizzy Star and Interesting Music on here as i currently can't get on myspace or googlemail at work but i'll get in touch through those ways too. I'll try those other people you suggested too. Would be nice if we could sort 3 or 4 days up in scotland in March and make it worthwhile. There are loads of bands from Leeds and the surrounding that would be interested so if we could make it work then it could be used as a good template for other decent bands to head up your way.
  21. will contact them when i get a chance. At work at the moment. Are they all aberdeen based? If so can people suggest some other promoters from other cities. Would like to sort at least a few dates around lovely scotland as it's a long way to come from Leeds. Also we put on gigs ourselves so might be able to help out any scotish bands on tour.
  22. Morning, basically we're putting out the debut single by Leed's shoegaze/americana band on 10th March.
