  1. LOKi formed in 2006. Our Drummer is leaving for a theatre lighting gig, so we need a replacement.

It is essential that you can temper your sound to sit behind the vocalist; it's not that he is quiet, but we have played gigs where the audience have said that they can only hear the drummer!

We play pubs and functions so you are going to need to travel.

The youngest member of the band is 23 and the oldest is 47: so you should be aged between those.

At our current fees, you can expect to be paid 75 per gig.

Either contact my profile or copy this:

    to your address bar.

    Thanks

  2. Just For Fun Music was established in 1993: providing music coaching in all instruments. Every once in a while it needs to remind you that it exists - new people in the community not knowing where to get quality tuition being the main reason. The website - Home - Just For Fun Music has all the details on it, but phone (013398) 84133 to speak to someone in person.

  3. We would like to announce that LoKi will be throwing a party on the 12th April at the Douglas Arms, High Street, Banchory.

There is always an excuse to have a party, but we actually have a few reasons as to why were doing this .. namely

Its LoKis birthday the band have officially been together for 2 years !

Its Brodies birthday hell be 22 on the 12th

Our friends from New York, Pat & Robyn will be coming to Banchory & we really need to show them some good Scottish hospitality!

The venue is booked, the cake is ordered & the music is taken care of we just need you to turn up.

Therefore we would like to extend an invitation to the Landlords & Landladies who have booked us over the past 2 years & anyone who has had the misfortune of seeing Brodie taking his shirt off during our Gigs.

Hey you never know we may even buy you a drink.

Happy Birthday to us & bring on the Party !

Tuition in Guitar, Bass, Drums, Keys, Flute and Clarinet is currently on offer, however the head coach can pick up any instrument and learn it in a day or so. Why not challenge him? There are four members of staff teaching across five days so a lesson slot to suit you is most likely to be available.

  7. LOKi need a drummer

    Hi,

If you are in the market for a band then our band is in the market for you. LOKi are a covers act based in Banchory. The Guitarist and Vocalist work full time in dyce. We are commited, but committed to staying at the leve lwe're at. Currently we have a couple of gigs a month up until New Year. The gigs aren't in Aberdeen city, but we are looking to play more often there.

Current set ranges through Thin Lizzy, to Snow Patrol via Black Crowes and Jimi Hendrix. Our problem with the current drummer is that he's too young so thirties sound good.

either PM me or visit lokitheband BEBO

    Cheers

Reasonably competent drummer, mid-30's, most recently with Kartta, decent amount of live experience, looking for a band.

Please note that this is a hobby for me so this means willingness to practice once a week and play something like a gig a month. Gigs outside Aberdeen would be cool but would need plenty notice and not be an overly frequent event due to personal commitments.

My music tastes are wide and varied but for examples of influences see the following -

The Jesus Lizard, Dirty Three, Shellac, Birthday Party, Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds, Galaxie 500, Mclusky, Queens Of The Stone Age, Interpol, The Brian Jonestown Massacre, early-Who, Nuggets, Mogwai, Dinosaur Jr, Nirvana, Neu!, Mogwai, Sunn O))), 13th Floor Elevators, Tindersticks, Salaryman, Uncle John And Whitelock, Black Keys, Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, Sixteen Horsepower.

    PM or whatever.

If you want to judge my competence level, my last gig with Kartta is on August 18th at The Moorings.

  8. LOKi are a local covers act. The drummer we have lacks commitment and wants to be a famous song writer. We have a break until August, but then are back in to gigs - 14 between now and New Year.

    Contact us if you're interested.

  9. LOKi needs a drummer

    Hi Guys,

I am an experienced gigging drummer, looking for a band. I've been out of gigging for about 3 years now, and am looking for a band to get back into it. I'm still pretty competant on the skins, and am looking for to set up an indie band.

Not too sure if this is the right site to post it on, but let's see what happens!

Anyone fancy hiring rehearsal space and seeing what we can sort out?

    I may have a guitarist/lead singer....not confirmed yet!

    Cheers

    Mark

    Hi,

I see your avaialbe. LOKi are a covers act working in the North East. We have maturity issues with our current drummer - he also thinks he's God. We have 14 gigs lined up.

Contact me if we can work together.

  10. It's been a while since Therapy? came up as an influence.

    Hello everyone,

Basically i need to find someone to help me reign in all my strange ideas and create something semi coherant. I've been playing in bands (mostly metal) for years now, and am fancying a bit of a change. Ideally i'd like to do something in a post punk/new wave style, while keeping my thrashy influences. Ive got tons of ideas, i just need to meet likeminded people who do too, and fancy sitting down and writing some music. And then playing it all over this grey city.

Main influences are Killing Joke, The Chameleons, Megadeth, Therapy? Ride, etc etc.

Get in touch for a chat and/or beer.

    cheers.

    hey there,

I've just read your posting and it's seems pretty cool. I've been writing since I was 11 and I'm now 29. I hooked up with the girl that became my wife while playing a Therapy? song; she walked down the aisle to Metallica. Hopefully you get the idea what kind of influences I have.

do you want to have a pint and see where it goes?

  11. Looks like we're in the same boat.

I play guitar and would like to write some songs, play some gigs, do some busking, recording even! Looking for people who may have similiar aspirations. Perhaps even form a band, if we can write some songs of course!

Looking for open minded folks aged 19-25? Experience isnt important. Looking to have some fun, enjoy playing with other musicians, share ideas, etc etc....

    Diverse range of influences.

    Anyone?

I'm actually in a band at the moment, but the musical community is a little fragmented. I can pick up friends all over the place, but trying to find someone who gets what I'm talking about is proving to be difficult. I'm 29, just outside your age range, but I have recording equipment!

Get in touch and we can go out for a pint.

    Robin

  12. How far along the trail are you?

    Hi Steve,

I'm a bassist currently playing in a band that lacks commitment. As a matter of course we were meant to be practising tonight, but again...

The band that I'm in has fourtenn gigs between now and new year. What's your band output? and I guess the key question is what's your intake? I am frustrated but I'm not going to jump ship in to open water. If you could contact me to discuss then we might be able to work together.

    Robin

We (The Cobra Kai) are also on the quest to find that elusive of all band members.... the bassist.

We are currently in the process of writing and developing songs and hope to be gigging by the end of the year.

Current influences include - Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins & Muse although we all have diverse musical tastes so there will be more influences going forwards.

One thing we do want to be doing is vocal harmonies so if you can sing then

Commitment to weekly practice required, also ideally age 25+ male or female.

Anyone interested fire me a pm.

However looking at previous 'bass player wanted' posts i wont hold my breath!

    Steve

  13. The worst day in my life.

I notice he is coming back to the UK again later this year and playing relatively small venues. I think we've got some suitable locations here, someone just needs to make him aware of that fact!

Its not a totally unrealistic thought, is it? Im positive itd be a sell out

    Any thoughts?

I lived in Cork city for a while and one day I was walking past a bar when I saw a notice up saying that Chris was playing there, the night before. I screamed.

In the days of promoting Euphoria morning he played Cork and that is smaller than Aberdeen. If we book him we will come.
