  1. Boo fucking hoo. I said Bill Hicks ain't the messiah. I didn't piss on your children. Get over it.

Like I said, people should stop acting like he is. IE get all defensive when soemone says "you know, I don't think he was as amazing as everyone says he was."

No, you said that you thought he thought he was the messiah. No one here said he was or acted like they thought he was. We actually agreed with you on the fact that he wasn't the messiah. The only thing we disagreed on was what we believed he thought he was. I think it is you that needs to stop getting all defensive when someone disagrees with you.

My point was put across perfectly calmly and rationally. There was hardly any need for you to get all arsey.

  2. Fancy enjoying another one? On at 9 and you would only have to suffer 30-40 minutes(depending on what we are allowed) ;)

I'll certainly see what I can do, although I'm rapidly heading towards minus figures with the bank. Mind, I don't see why I should have a conscience about spending their money when they're quick enough to take mine...

I noticed on Box's website they do webcasts as well. Are you being webcasted? Just in case anyone else here is wanting a look as well.

  3. This is what I think. I still listen to him, and do find it funny soemtimes, but after the second or third listen that was it. Alot fot he time I foudn ti extremely repetitive on the one subject, and I found him to be really fucking condescending. I think he thought he was the messiah, whioch was sad, but people that make him out to be just that are even worse. He was just a comedian.

    Mitch Hedberg is FAR funnier.

I disagree with you. He didn't think he was the messiah, far from it. He spent a lot of his act saying that people shouldn't be led by what others tell them, that they should make their own minds up. The only sad thing about that is that there were folk that needed to be told that in the first place.

  4. Steep? It's effing vertical!

I doubt I'll be going to any dates on this tour. In my pregnant state, I'd end up hitting the first person I see hurl a beer through the air, and you can't enjoy a gig from the back of the venue. Besides, if that's the setlist, I can't say I'm that interested anyway.

  5. What an awful, awful idea. It just doesn't make any sense, when you think about it.

I saw the Bill Hicks: Slight Return show with Chaz Early a couple of years back and thought it was great, but that was just a tribute act based on the kind of material Bill did. I can't imagine an entire film based around his life story, and I certainly can't believe that it's the sort of thing Hicks would have appreciated either - not that I knew him, obviously - I imagine it going against a lot of the beliefs that he was so vociferous about during his act.

  6. I can't be arsed reading back through, but I'm sure Stripey said he was moving away from Aberdeen soon. If that's the case, why are people telling him "If you don't like it, move"? Is this that thing you see happening on forums all over the internet - reacting more to the poster rather than the post?

  7. wouldnt really class me as ignorant or a div to be honest...but i suppose i do come across as a bit of a twat on here for my opinions on Aberdeen. I just hate people moaning about it...really annoys me. If you dont like it - dont stay. People dont have to stay - maybe bar family reasons - there are plenty jobs around the world and plenty ways to get there.

I hear people moaning about it all the time and it really annoys me. Thats all. Matter of opinion just like im sure you have yours....

It also takes money to re-locate. You can't just up and leave somewhere simply because you want to. Ok, I managed it, but with a lot of help from other people (I saved on money by having friends help me move and a house ready for me to move into), but not everyone gets that opportunity.

My tuppence worth, however, I loved Aberdeen, but I'd gotten to a point where I felt there was more out there to see and do - plus the majority of my friends live in other places, so there were very few that were even close by. I'm not born and raised in Aberdeen, in fact, I'm not even Scottish, and have lived in several places. I'm in Glasgow just now and I don't even intend to stay here forever. I'll say this, though: Aberdeen's probably been my favourite city to live in so far. I love the accent, I love the music scene, I love the fact it's not a huge city (in the grand scheme), but it's not a tiny place where everyone knows everyone either. I love that it's near the sea and at the same time, you're never far from the countryside and some amazing scenery. You don't get that in Glasgow, London or Burnley.

I miss the place, but at the same time, I don't see me moving back there now that I've gone, not for any other reason than I'm happy where I am and have other places I'd like to go in future.

  8. When i'm making instant i put the milk in first otherwise the boiling water burns the coffee granules. Instant doesn't need to taste worse.

But instant coffee should be made with hot, not boiling water anyway. ;)

Being with child as I am, I'm right off coffee just now and I think it was that cup of instant I had a few weeks ago that did it. Vile, horrid stuff. Problem is, the other half decided to drop the pot from the perculator, so we don't even have that now. I'm torn between getting him a new machine for his birthday or just telling him "tough titties, you shouldn't have broken the perculator, should you?".

  9. received my deportation papers today. that'll make mr dow happy one less englishman in this country to worry about!!!

There's loads of us about. He'll never be rid of us all!

I must say, this is something that bugs me a great deal, why do people think they're important enough to have a thread to introduce themselves? If it was really necessary, there'd be a section to do this. There isn't. No one is that important.

  10. A microwavable jam roly poly pudding with custard from Tesco. Not big enough and nowhere near as good as the fresh stuff, but I don't have the energy to do much else, so it had to suffice. 4/10.

Breakfast was a fishfinger sandwich with vinegar. Breakfast of champions. 8/10.

Dinner will be steak and chips. 10/10 every time.

  11. I know someone fluent in German who had an extensive knowledge of the language - or so she thought - until she got there and realised that the German you're taught and the German that's spoken are two different things. Thanks to local accents/differentiations/colloquialisms, even knowing loads isn't necessarily a great help. As long as you put the effort in by knowing at least a few greetings and simple questions, and explaining that your knowledge is basic, I'm sure folk will be more than happy to help you out. They do say that learning by throwing yourself in is the best way to learn, though. If you're only going for a month, I don't think you'll have too much trouble.

I know some German, but not a great deal, so feel free to ask, although I can't promise to help.
