The Dykeenies formed in 2005, releasing demo material amongst friends and family, only to find these tracks reaching the hands of the general public. This was followed by a sold out debut gig at Glasgows 350 capacity ABC 2 before the band went on to signing a recording deal with La Volta - a subsidiary of Sony BMG - selling thousands of records and touring all throughout the UK, Europe and US, culminating in a career highlight of selling out Glasgows 1200 capacity ABC and playing the Radio 1 NME Stage at T in the Park. The band are now awaiting the final masters of their new album before heading out from October onwards to remind the world just why they were loved so much in the first place.

    Juffage - Wall | Facebook

Juffage is Jeff T. Smith, a solo sound artist and multi-instrumentalist from Leeds, via Chicago, Illinois. He is often seen in bars, art galleries, and basements with a bands worth of instruments.

A recording enthusiast at heart, he has spent time in some of Chicagos finest studios including Engine Studios (w/ Brian Deck), and Electrical Audio (w/ Steve Albini). Live shows see him coming up wit...h inventive new ways of bringing his multi-layered recordings to the stage. Through the use of cassettes, drums, guitars, and assorted other loop-pedals and gadgets, Juffage creates complex, yet surprising catchy pop songs.

Juffage performances have been compared to a synthesis of Lightning Bolts rhythmic ferocity, Radioheads lush pop sensibility, King Tubbys manipulative production, and Andrew Birds ability to make a good loop. The result has been described as a loud, frantic, and beautiful hyperactive and technically accomplished display.

In the summer of 2008, Jeff somehow fit all his music gear into a station wagon and played over 100 shows across the U.S., before setting off for the UK and Europe and touring for the majority of majority of the year. In July/August 2009 yet another self-booked U.S. tour of the east-coast and midwest followed.

In September 2009, Jeff moved to Leeds, England to complete a masters degree in Music Technology and Computer Music. Once he re-accumulated enough amps, drums, and other bits of music gear, he resumed playing live and received an overwhelmingly positive response within the Leeds music community. He has also recently exhibited multichannel sonic art works for the University of Leeds and Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, utilising ambisonics, live looping, portable cassette players, and Max/MSP.

    Jake Morley | Facebook

Jake Morley (born 1 August 1983) is a singer/songwriter based in north London. His unusual style of lap tapping, allowing him to tap, slap, and strum his guitar, has gained him many plaudits from both fans and critics.

He is certainly something else! Very Charismatic, warm and a fantastic singer and guitar player.

    Janice Long, Radio 2

Jake Morley and his impressive band more than have what it takes an ambitious pop sound that is every bit as bright and sparkly as the main player himself - 4 stars

    The Independent[15]

A sound that cant be ignored. Morley can do no wrong, and a wealth of fans cant get enough. 9/10

    Virgin.com[16]

Great real life lyrics and superb virtuoso playing. That's extraordinary!

    Tom Robinson, 6 music

Jake Morley is not just your average bloke with guitar, he stuns crowds with his unique style and is always a show stealer.

    BBC Introducing

It's phenomenal to watch him but it's still more daunting to consider that he also sings up a storm and writes cracking songs. Morley is a true original

    Acoustic Magazine

This is a man to follow, not just on social media sites, but in real life whenever he plays a gig. This is music to cherish.

    Fatherson | Facebook

Bright young Scottish rock trio Fatherson are to head out around Scotland in September in support of the release the highly anticipated self titled EP through King Tuts Recordings.

King Tuts Recordings already has an unrivalled reputation of supporting Scottish artists from the start of their careers. They have released the dbut singles for some of the countries best known acts including Kassidy, Twin Atlantic and The Xcerts.

Fatherson write maturely dynamic rock songs layered with lyrics that are bravely delicate and hooks that will pop back into your head until you get your next Fatherson fix.

Throughout 2010 the Kilmarnock lads living double lives one week they were doing exams at school the next they were supporting Feeder and then went away on a full UK tour supporting legendry band Idlewild. This did not phase the band and they went on to get a 4 K live review in Kerrang Magazine and BBC Radio 1 airplay. This year another life long goal of the band was achieved when they were confirmed to play Scotlands major music festival T in the Park and other performances at festivals such as Wickerman. A highlight of the year for the band has been selling out the legendary King Tuts in Glasgow in advance on presales.

All of the achievements so far have placed Fatherson at the forefront of the new music scene in Scotland and with all eyes on them this will be a massive year for the band as usual they will take it in their stride and carry on achieving the goals they had only dreamed of.

  6. Back on the refund topic

Drummonds is open 12-5 at the moment to issue refunds for tickets purchased in person from there.

The card machine was indeed down on that day - cant be helped. And if its who I think it is, he does indeed have a refund now. We cant issue cash for card purchases as is the same anywhere.

In the same way that you cant get a refund from One Up after 5.30, we also stop doing refunds at the end of office hours.

Online sales will have been refunded automatically by ticketmaster etc.

Hope that clears things up a bit.

  7. the mystery surrounding tonight's gig is unreal! i don't suppose any other forum members are playing/attending tonight and have an idea of running order? we're bringing a fairly decent crowd down but have no idea what to tell them regarding what time we are on...

the last thing i want is for us to bring a crowd down and them to drift off during the other acts, as a) it's crap to be playing and see people leaving during your set, and b) we want to make the best impression possible and a big crowd will go a long way to achieving that goal... obviously with a show on a weekday night, it's been hard enough to persuade a bunch of people to come in the first place!

Just seen this now - dont know where you were emailing or calling but Ive not got any messages mate - obviously the gig has passed now anyway but apologies

My email is rosstunnels@live.co.uk for Tunnels/Drummonds related stuff.

    or you can email info@thetunnels.co.uk

Failing that someone in the booking side of things are in Drummonds on 01224 619930 at least 12-5 most days.

Obv too late for you but if anyone else needs anything there you go.

  8. Safe to say I majorly regretted going to see Wheatus way back when I was at school (mmm Im old) at The Music Hall - quite possibly the worst band Ive seen at that level.

They had one album at that point (no idea how many they have now) and still managed to double the length of it for a live show that had more of them chucking bananas at each other than actual music. They also left the two songs that I knew (Little Respect and Teenage Dirtbag) until last which at the time being an impatient kid made me dislike it even more.

Having said that it would prob be okay in somewhere like Tunnels for a bit of a laugh and for all I know they could have written 5 or 6 masterpieces since then.

  9. I've said "maybe" to this event on Facebook.

I'm sure it will be fucking mobbed - which will be good to see at the Tunnels. I've only once before been to a sold out Tunnels and that was about 5 years ago to see the Maccabees. I'd rather it was packed for an up and coming band like the Maccabees were 5 years ago, but you know - it's a cool venue, so seeing it packed for anything will be good!

to be fair its quite often packed for shows these days too, whether it be by new bands or something like this. It is indeed harder to do just now given alot of people are struggling financially, but not wholly impossible.

  10. If this is aimed at me, I can assure you I'm not expecting for a second to get a slot. I was happy to be out playing, it's just that there was visibly nobody there to watch as there was implied there would be. That's all that's irking me, not the "oh no, I won't get a slot at a festival"; I know for a fact there are some far more experienced acts out there who arguably deserve it more.

Then again, if Ross etc. turned round and said "want to play?" I wouldn't turn him down. ;)

I will say again that along with everyone else there is a submisson form filled out for you from your showcase by a judge. I dont know from the signature on it who this particular judge is but there is def feedback on your performnace in the magical blue folder mate.

The idea was that the "judge" wouldnt be easily identified. In the past this has led to issued and people claiming favourtism etc. That is the reason that I have nothing to do with the choice, because people had already had a minor fit because I happen to manage/book for certain local bands.

I assure you once again that all showcases have been handled in the same way. Obviously I cant control which ones STV decide to turn up to or indeed which ones crowds turn up to, but there has consistenly been a judge at each event.

    ----------------------

Rod is best known as a songwriter/guitarist in the Scottish group Idlewild. Alongside Roddy Woomble and Colin Newton he formed the band in 1995. Over a period spanning 15 years the band have toured the world as headliners and also in support of Pearl Jam, R.E.M., U2, The Rolling Stones and many more. Their album 100 Broken Windows was recently voted Scottish album of the last decade by fans in the Skinny magazine and continues to have a fanatical following. Their follow up album The Remote Part debuted at number 3 in the UK charts with the single You held the world in your arms reaching number 9. The band have released seven studio albums to critical acclaim and continue to sell out concerts across the globe.

Aside from his work with Idlewild, Rod is also a singer songwriter under his own name, releasing a debut solo album A sentimental education in 2010. He has also collaborated on several other projects including the currently unreleased George is Jones album with American singer Inara George.

More recently Rod alongside Emma Pollock has been curating and organsing music events for The Scottish Mental health Arts and Film festival every September / October. Born out of this The fruit tree foundation was set up by Rod and Emma to bring together various artists to collaborate, write and record an album in aid of promoting awareness of mental health wellbeing. The project has been a huge success and the first album First Edition features members of Frightened Rabbit, Sparrow and the workshop and Twilight Sad with James Yorkston, Jenny Reeve and Alasdair Roberts working alongside Emma and Rod. The album is released worldwide in mid June 2011.

Given the busy schedule Rod has kept up for the last 15 years you might think he would want to take a break whilst Idlewild were on down time but no.

Enter The Birthday Suit. Over the early part of 2011, Rod has been working in the studio on this latest record. Sounding more akin to early Idlewild, the record is a noisy yet poppy return to Rods roots and that combined with involving a collection of local musicians and friends, he felt that that it should be presented as a new band.

The first single Do you ever? will be released as a free download on August 30th 2011, with a follow up and the album to be released in late October.

Audio tasters of a few songs are available on Rods solo page on facebook.
