  1. Christ so I did! I didnt even remember!
  2. Where are the good ones in Aberdeen? Keep threatening to go and play somewhere but got no idea where to start! Ta
  3. Is it just me or doesnt the amount of music snobbery get a bit boring on this site? It seems some of the folk on here cant go 2 days without laying into whatever is in the top 10? Do you really know better than all the thousands of people that put these songs into the charts? I'll give you Scouting for Girls they are woefully shit but not so much that I would go starting a thread about it! And as for the Killers and Coldplay both bands have had critical, professional and public acclaim so to be honest. Im sure they couldnt care less what some part time musician from Aberdeen thinks nor would their fans it just seems threads like this are created to get a reaction not any positive or meaningful discussion. By that last comment Im generalising Im not having a dig at whoever started this thread or one person in particualr it just seems the forum has changed a lot to me it used to be so much more upbeat and positive in the stuff you would read. Anyway I probably wont post again for months I generally only read the threads its just been getting my backup.
  4. Anyone know which ones are pretty good in the Aberdeen? Hoping to pop down one night and hopefully not make a c*nt of myself in front of anyone I know. Will be cutting my teeth playing on my own for first time. Cheers Ewan
  5. I am wrecked. First T in a few years so didnt know what to expect. Way to many neds who go to get smasho and generally act like knobs. Friday Newton Faulkner (Not bad but a bit of a show off live) Alphabeat (Dont ask me why I went but they were actually pretty entertaining) Kids In Glass Houses (Take them or leave them) The Music (Ace but crowd was too nuts couldnt enjoy them and set was too short/obvious) The Verve (Boring so left early) Saturday Dubfire (Ok not a dance fan) Kate Nash (Not my choice. Awful) The Subways (Again not my choice I want to like them but the singer was way too excited and irritating) Biffy (Not really into them but pretty good) Kooks (Not fussed just waiting in the front to see rage) Fratellis (Awful but again just waiting for rage. Their drummer played the start of Take the Power Back so at least they have good taste) Rage (Probably the best band Ill ever see live. Amazing) Sunday Shed 7 (Good as always) Ting Tings (Enjoyed the singles dont really see what the hype is about) Battles (Try as I may I just dont understand them. Maybe need to give them another listen) Beth Rowley (Amy Winehouse minus crack) Yeasayer (Really entertaining and their bass player is immense!) Amy Winehouse (Totally lost it. Her voice just sounds tired and she is too distracted) Panic (Really good but nobody else there seemed bothered by them was a small crowd) Black Kids (Singles are good not sure there is much else there) Prodigy (Boring so left early to watch the fireworks) All in all a good weekend!
  6. Cheers appreciate the feedback!
  7. I guess I want people to hear the songs so in a way that answers my question. I just dont want to have to feel apologetic for my playing like "Sorry if this is shit guys!" I've considered playing to a couple of mates first see what they think. Musical mates like not just any bozo o_O
  8. Im originally a bass player but found being in bands isnt really for me I feel totally under pressure to make a commitment that I dont want to keep and I end up not enjoying the music Im making. So I havent gigged in a year and took up the guitar teaching myself the basics and writing my own material in the last 6 months. Im at the stage now where I can pretty confidently play the stuff by myself and pull it off to a decent standard (I think anyway). Im by no means a perfectionist and I wouldnt say my playing is amazing but I can hold my own so I guess my question is this. Do I book a gig now and run the risk of making a twat of myself cause Im not actually ready? Or do I hang on another year or so? For example whats more important to the quality of the songs or the quality of the playing? Any thoughts are appreciated Im a bit unsure at the moment!

  15. Bassist with 10 years experience looking for band to play with. Influences range wide from Britpop to Emo to Metal to R&B. Current favourites are Incubus and Damien Rice. Played in a few bands over the years Cordless, Miles Above, The Long Firm, The Cellers and Girl Said No. Not always in Aberdeen cause of my job so long term commitment isnt possible but I do what I can. Email me @ ewoks20@hotmail.com for details Cheers Ewan
