  1. .

If audience members are overbearingly loud during a set, I always love it if the musician(s) onstage get unbearingly loud as a response.

Haha this is something I would LOVE to be capable of, alas I am blessed with a voice as whispy as a bald mans eye brows. :)

I know bad crowds aren't intrinsic to Aberdeen, I have played to some lovely audiences here. But in my personal experience, out of everywhere I've played, Aberdeen has been the worst (so far) for people being more interested in getting drunk and appearing to be somewhere cool, rather than going for the music.

I know I can't appeal to everyone, and guess my music just doesn't appeal to that particular crowd, art gallery tour 2011 methinks :p x

  2. To be honest - and sorry for keeping this thread alive - I just want as much experience as I can get while I hone my trade. This type of gig is exactly the type of thing I need to work on. Its also a good opportunity to work woth someone who could have a promising future and make contacts for other gigs. Plus there's money involved and I've never been to Orkney!

I understand love, thanks for the offer. I'll bear you in mind if I need something similar in the future! x

  3. I am needing a drummer to come and play a gig with myself at the St. Magnus Festival in Orkney, on Sunday 19th June. Travel and accomodation will be paid for and a 150 fee will also be offered.

Person must be free Saturday 18th, Sunday 19th and Monday 20th June. I'm wanting someone that enjoys my music  and has a good sense of humour, as well as being free at least one evening a week for practise. More gigs throughout the UK will be on offer after Summer if all goes well. I will email out some material to anyone who's interested. x

  4. Reconsidering my first post, (which I wrote in a tired grump, I was extremely excited about the gig but felt that nothing quite went according to plan) I never meant to personally insult anyone or the way they performed their job last night.

I know everyone was stressed and did the best they could given the circumstances, (which I'm appreciative of) but the circumstances involving the PA earlier in the day definitely had a knock on effect for everyone involved, it affected my performance. That was all I was trying to explain.

  5. Thanks love, yeah I was aiming for a whole "black cab sessions" kind of live lounge thingy where touring artists/bands would come aboard and play something unique on "The bandwagon" or I would travel to their hotel room etc then I would upload a monthly podcast and have a youtube channel. I've been struggling with how to make it work financially but the advertising is looking like a winner, aswell as possibly having small ads on the podcasts themselves Spotify stylee. x

  6. Cheers for the feedback Lucky, yes you have a point about the studio fitting in the back of a caravan, I shouldve specified it would be a "black cab sessions" style unplugged acoustic sessions with recording full band at various locations with the portable set up. The idea is still in the developing stages. The annoying thing about this darn graded unit is that you have to make the plan sound financially viable when I would easily do something like this for fun and as a hobbie! There are many great free podcasts, indeed.

Yes Robert, it would be a monthly subscription fee for the exclusive band wagon sessions. Or can you think of another way I can make this plan look like it will make money? Perhaps advertising on the website?

    Brain is fried! x

Robert - Haha yes touring and local bands. So say Tim and Sams tim and the bla bla tomorrow who are playing at the tunnels, Id get them to record a live session in the caravan or say during soundcheck or at a random location.

  7. Hello abody!

I'm currently working on my graded unit which involves combining all elements of the course into a big business plan.

My idea was originally to set up a mobile studio in the back of my dads caravan and call it "The Band Wagon", recording sessions with touring bands enroute to gigs or at their hotel and then making these sessions available as a monthly downloadable podcast with the possibilty of the sessions being filmed in a la blogoteque stylee.

    What I was wondering was-

Do you think there would be any scope for this in Aberdeen and would anyone be willing to subscribe to the podcasts for a monthly fee? If so, how much would you be willing to pay?

Any feedback would be appreciated muchly.

    Thanks  xx
