I don't think anyone would ever claim the Tunnels is perfect, but in the absence of a truly great Aberdeen venue we should be thankful that it exists. They've put on some fantastic acts, and they will continue to do so in future, judging by the sheer variety and quality of acts they have lined up. I've been there a few times in the last couple of weeks and have noticed a massive improvement in the quality of the sound. Given the environment and the shape of the rooms, it's never going to be ideal, but they're doing a sterling job with the resources they have.

And yes, I've been to more "good live music venues" than you can shake a stick at, and while the venue as it stands is never going to reach the upper echelons, the people who run it and work there are absolute diamonds who really care about what they're doing and do their best to ensure that Aberdeen still has a music scene worth talking about.

In 2007 Aberdeen has seen Rob Tissera, Tidy Boys, Erol Alkan, Scratch Perverts, Slam etc. Don't think we can complain about a lack of decent djs in the north-east. Would have liked Pendulum to come but you can't have everything.

Energy Promotions have a new venue so hopefully they get more decent acts up.

My main gripe about the dj scene in aberdeen is it doesn't really exist outwith Kef and Snafu. They aren't really the types of places you want to go every week either.

I don't see why places like Liquid can't try and be a bit more diverse/creative and include decent djs and acts. On the rare occasion I go these days all they play is bloody Kate Nash and the killers. Don't other liquids across the UK play proper djs?

Yea Energy Promotions do have some good acts coming to aberdeen TBA

in my opinion i would never ever ever want to see the likes of erol alkan or scratch perverts, pendulum etc in such a commercialised venue surrounded by wankers in university rugby club uniforms or bitches that think theyre in the o.c......i would much rather be in a small capacity underground venue with good vibez, where everyone is there for one reason....love of the music.

if only liquid was taken over and reopened as fabric 2 ! yus!

I wish Liquid would fall into a hell hole and take pearl lounge, priory et al with it.

yo, first off dont be a 'choose a record n press play' DJ (if you can call them dj's) they are in my opinion pish and ruin what a dj is really about, dj's should be creative and almost sort of interesting to listen to, with the types of music your speakin about mixing might be a bit hard to do but do-able with practice, pretty much just practice and enoy it, if youve got any mates who play go chill with them n get some tips n techniques. one last thing when your DJing make shure you keep your levels consistent. peace
