Agreed. It's worth it for the sport.
Also, I didn't have a Sky+ box before and I totally love it now.
Stuff like Lost looks brilliant on HD as well.

I have a confession to make. I just cannot get into The Sopranos, no matter how hard I try.
I have recently watched the first season of True Blood and I'm loving that. Can't wait for the second season to come out on DVD, or to be shown on FX. Whichever comes first. Got Dollhouse a few weeks ago as well and loved that. Caught the first episode of season 2 online and it just looks like it's going to get even better!
Really ?
I watched the 1st ep. of season 2 and haven't bothered with the rest yet.

Best thing on telly just now is Season 2 of Sons of Anarchy .
Edit - just realised it's only on in America just now

my 11 year old daughter's reaction to this was;
"Great, now X-men is going to have magic ponies"

I've watched a few films recently but the only one that was better than ok was Franklyn.
Never heard anything about it before I watched so didn't know what to expect (which is how I like it).
It was quite interesting - anyone else seen it ?

The first Transporter is brilliant action with some great fight scenes. But I had to turn off the second one after the "get the bomb off the bottom of the car" sequence. A film ruined by the director being given the keys to the CGI locker.
Haven't gotten round to watching 3, if it's more like 1 I might like it. If it's still full of CGI stunts I'll probably hate it.
Yeah that scene killed 2 for me as well - IIRC it was right at the start of the film as well.
3 is still nowhere near as good as 1 but because 2 lowered your expectations so much it is still watchable.

I've read a lot of Donaldson as well. I couldn't get into Eddings or Brooks but I loved all the Raymond Feist series of Magician books.

I watched a film called Religulous last night.
Bill Maher discussed religion with a host of different religious leaders and followers.
I thought it was just going to be him taking the piss out of all these folk but he talks to them from a very informed stand-point and is able to hold his own with them all - in fact in many cases his religious knowledge is better than some of TV evangelist type idiots.
It is, however, very funny at points and I laughed out loud several times as he pointed out the idiocy of some 'religious' beliefs.

Still need advice on graphics card and CPU if anyone can give me some tips?
It's actually a myth that you need a good graphics card. Although I did get a good one in the end this was because I also wanted to play games on it.
The best place for you to go is AVForums as they have a specialist thread about this very thing and you''ll get all the info you need.
Here you go Home Cinema PCs - AVForums.com

Excellent Q&A with the show's creator here
(don't read until you've seen the final ep)

Thanks for posting the link.
I hope he stays away from The Shield movie idea though

Brilliant penultimate episode. Can't believe its the last ep next week, but it's set to be a cracker.
That was an amazing episode. Real WOW factor !
-
Got round to watching last week's ep last night. One of the best eps ever?
This season is really picking up pace now, heading for a real train wreck.
Yeah, they've really raised the bar again with Season 7 . I wasn't impressed with 6 - a real non event ..possibly due to Fantastic 4 commitments ? (or was it the writers strike ?)
I'm back to looking forward to the next episode every week now.
Can't help you out Johnny Mac, I delete them after viewing sorry.
-
Season 7 is getting better every episode
-
lol, I've never been able to look at Forrest Whitaker the same since he appeared in the Shield. Glenn Close was good too but I find it hard to watch her plastic face too much.
I'll need to check out Sons of Anarchy - sounds ok
-
Where have you been ?
I think I'm on Series 7 just now - which I believe is the last one.
-
Anyone seen Generation Kill yet?
I've watched the 1st 2 episodes. I'm not over impressed so far. Instead I've found an Australian drama called Underbelly which is pretty good.

Buy yourself a right bastard of a sound system and go to town.
lol, I did cure a noisy neighbour problem once with the help of a Marshall amp.
I guess it was along the lines of Corcodile Dundee's 'you call that a knife ?'
-
".
also, i never realised snoop was a girl til i'd watched most of season 5.
Lol - me too, and only then coz they referred to her as 'she'.
Can't understand a word she says but still one of the best characters.
Season 5 was ace.
(The new season of the Shield starts soon too )

I saw it a few weeks ago on 'dvd'. Its.....different !
-
Correct... which isn't on council telly or Freeview.
Ah well what do I know. I've usually seen it long before it hits these shores
-
Cheers, Bigsby.......it'll be worth the wait.
I know this is an ignorant question...but is 'The Wire' on council TV, or Freeview? I'd like to check it out, but am not one for watching DVDs of TV shows, for some reason.
I believe it is shown on FX.
-
1. The Wire
2. The Wire
3. The Wire
I haven't seen series 4 and 5 yet.
4's a bit of a filler building up to 5 which is (as I said) superb
-
For a cop show I love The Shield, but haven't seen The Wire so can't compare. Might look into getting it on dvd though.
They're both very good shows but completely different in style.
Whilst The Shield is a lot more in your face kicking down doors style, the Wire is more about the kids on the 'corners' and the surveillance of them. I still recommend it but don't expect the same as The Shield.
-
I've just finished watching season 5 of the Wire - superb
Last film you watched?

Just finished watching Ink.
What a superb film, it absolutely blew me away. Easily the best film I've watched this year.
