  1. Much as though I'd love to see a bit more variety in Aberdeen - I think that a club along the lines of Edinburgh's Opium opening would be the worst thing that could happen ... there just isn't enough interest in the rock/alternative 'scene' up here and you'd end up with two half empty clubs instead of one fairly full one.

Sounds like it's gonna be more like the clientelle from the old Escobar though .... who were pretty much posing hipsters.

I wouldnt know, I was cunted everytime I was in there pretty much, I remember it was dark. And I remember the Absinthe, and taking a piss off the bridge at 4 in the morning.

Doesnt sound like its going to be the same, think itll be more mainstream orientated. Who cares, Im sick of hearing the same songs every fucking week in Moshulu, bring it on!

  2. Sorry' date=' just pished myself laughing when I read this thread.

    [/quote']

    I was just asking!

    *sniff*

sweet, that place has been empty for long enough. Esko used to be fucking great, but I dont think Moshulu will suffer, recon it'll be a different clientel altogether. Im getting pretty bored of Moshulu anyway.

  3. This thread is ace! Ive been naughty though, had to do two for each.

    Something Old -

Therapy?- Troublegum. one of my top ten, or twenty of all time. nuff said.

Dead Kennedys - Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables. old school punk is ALWAYS better than new.

    Something New -

Chaimira - Chimaira. So its not all that new, but Its the most recent album ive bought. Trying not to buy "new" music at the moment, as most of it is utter pish anyway!

Coheed and Cambria - Good Apollo I'm Burning Star IV. I wasn't sure about it to begin with but it grew on me, just kept on listening to it. Everyone should own an album of theirs.

    Something Borrowed -

Down - Nola. never heard of them before the summer, recommended by a partner, stolen upon divorce! Sexy as fuck.

KSE - The End of Heartache. as above, . . but had heard of em before. I just fucking love 'em.

    Something Poo -

QOTSA- Lullabies to Paralyze. What a pile of shite that was. Dont get me wrong, I love them, have since Kyuss, Dwarves etc. I was dubious after Nick decided to jump ship, but decided to keep my faith. Just shows who had all the talent. Took it straight back.

Foo Fighters - In Your Honour. I'm sorry to say it, and a few years ago I wouldn't have believed it myself, but theyve just gone so far downhill since their hayday man. Is it just me? Am I getting old? They used to fucking rock my world, they used to be raw and angry. Maybe thats it. No relationship problems/ Band fall outs/ Courtney Love = bland. boo hoo

  4. So UFB - do you believe:

    1) That you have some sort of God given right to risk The Tunnels license?

    2) That just so your mates could have something that they were not entitled to' date=' it was worth risking getting The Tunnels shut down?

    3) That the jobs and livelihood of everyone who works at The Tunnels is something it is acceptable for you to risk?

    4) That the people who own The Tunnels and put their blood sweat, and tears... not to mention a whole heap of money that they have had to work very hard for... it's OK for you to gamble with that?

    5) That the people that would no longer be able to frequent The Tunnels, and all the other bands that would no longer be able to play there, are accetable collateral damage?

Because had anything gone wrong, and believe me nobody ever plans to get caught, then that is EXACTLY what would have happened. And it would have been due to your selfish, stupid, thoughless, "nobody will ever find out" action.

Licensing law is very strict compared with the laws that most of you are familair with. There are no let-offs, no cautions, and no warnings. Caught serving someone 1 min after time? Lose your license immediately. For example a well known local kebab shop was licensed to serve food until 4am. There was a queue of people in the shop, some of them had been waiting a while. The police walked past and witnessed the assistant taking money at 4 mins past 4. The shop lost it's license and was closed down. It was it's first and only offence. That was 4 years ago. It' still shut.

But the worst offences under licensing law are:

    3) Serving alcohol to someone underage.

    2) Killing someone with alcohol

    1) And worst of all is killing someone underagewith alcohol.

The definition of 'killing' is pretty broad. If for example one of your underage mates, had walked out in front of a car, and the police had learned that the person had been in The Tunnels beforehand, then a post mortem would have checked for alcohol. Had even a very small quantity of alcohol in their bloodstream - like the one drink you bought them. Then 4 people would have been held personally liable and accountable for that death:

    The car driver

    The licensee of The Tunnels

The cool bald guy who didn't throw you all out.

You. Yes you, because you are over 18, and you bought a fatal drink for someone you knew was under 18.

The conviction would have been made to stick quite easily. You would all have gone to jail.

But even just serving someone under 18 (who later survives) - which so many of you view as 'OK' - is treated by the courts as being on par with sticking your dick up a 3 year olds ass. They really don't like it :nono: Get caught doing it just once, even by accident, and the venue will lose it's license, and be forced to shut down. And just like underage drinking, this happens all the time. The police do not turn a blind eye.

Right now the police have a big initiative on. They are clamping down hard on anywhere that is reputed to serve drink to people underage. They are sending out people undercover with hidden cameras recording equipment.

Underagers trying to buy drinks for themselves is bad enough, but this is even worse. You should be old enough to know better.[/quote']

just in case anyone missed it the first time.......well said Flash!!

"underagers" - read this again, print it out and stick it on your bedroom wall beside your Kurt Cobain poster so you can read it eveytime you think about stepping into a venue and risking their liscence. and stop whinging, its really a lot more serious than you and your mates getting so-called abuse and having to go home early. Grr.

  5. Its maybe just me but I find it a bit uneasy having a bare ass on screen at work....o_O

hehe, I just caught someone looking at my screen! naughty.

I duno, as long as its all done in good taste,

tis always nice to see a pretty face, but youre a fool if you think places like the priory are filled with those!!

  6. This is an opinion' date=' and this is a music discussion forum, so hence I decided to answer a post which I thought was a bit stupid. I also did not call anyone ignorant, nor stupid because I disagreed with them, something which you seem incapable of.

    Ah, internet threats... how clever.[/quote']

oooh, you actually thought I was going to come and kick your ass? figure of speech.

of course youre entitled to your opinion, lets not have that debate. but by saying you think that its stupid, youve just completley contradicted yourself.

  7. you think that's bad? one time i was in the tunnels having a quiet beverage at one of the underground DIY hardcore gigs i so often frequent and when i left and went home' date=' i found that the staff of the tunnels had robbed my house and left my family for dead while i'd been out. to top it all off, it was at this point i realised that the barstaff had stolen my trousers off my body while i'd been sitting there and i'd walked all the way down the road with my massive schlong hanging out of the bottom of my boxers.*

    talk about a bad night

    /x

    * no part of this story is true (apart from me having a massive schlong). the tunnels is nice and i hate hardcore music.[/quote']

I actually just pissed myself. that made my day.

  8. Let's face it. In terms of musical ability and live shows' date=' acts like Neurosis and Today is the Day make Tool seem like a school band, and have been ahead of this game far longer than them, without boring audiences to death. Tool are a gateway band to better things, or you could just do yourself a favour and miss em out. [/quote']

what a pile of bullshit, a gateway band to better things? so you should just miss them out? thats like saying you should miss out the clash and go straight to the Dead Kennedy's or something. youre lucky i dont know where you live. if you dont like a band, fair enough, but if youre going to slag them off, at least do it properly
