Just found out from Matamp that this 1224 Mk6 is one of only a handful ever made!

I remember when I was first looking at getting a matamp, you could pick up a 1224 head for £800 and now they are up near £1400 I think, just for the head. That has been over about 10years which I guess isnt too bad a climb in price for what you get.

No worries, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but if you do have a little search on ebay you will find 100's mesa's etc and all of maybe 4 Matamps. Also with the rarity of the Matamps and their superb sound, construction and heritage they really do hold their price. I had a guy from Germany looking to buy it, but typically my luck one turned up the next day near him.

Not accurate. Supply and demand man. Matamps are nowhere near as readily available as Boogies and Fenders etc.

Exactly, plus those that have got that amount of cash to burn on an amp will likely get a new amp for added new-amp-buying boner inducement.

Thats the thing though, you wont get a new Matamp for that price, maybe not even a head by its self and then there is the waiting list. I think its about 6 months minimum right now.

I bought it with the intentions of gigging but with uni/work I've never got round to setting up or finding a band. Im using it less and less and its a shame for it to just sit there. I was thinking of downsizing and replacing with a nice combo. I know i will regret it.

Its amazing how this amp can play so quietly someone in the room next to you wont hear it, then if you switch it to all 4 valves you can knock walls down its that loud.

Forgot to say the cab has 2 x Hot 100 speakers in it.
