  1. Attention seeking twat.....in my humble opinion.

Did you actually go and read his website - if you did you would see that he raises money for charity by climbing these buildings...Anyway, most climbers I know have been known to solo on buildings (often when pissed), he's just taken it to an extreme.

Vertigo isn't the same as a fear of heights (acrophobia, I think). Vertigo is a weird dizzy sensation that some people get when near big drops (what climbers would call airy or exposed). I know - I get it. Doesn't stop me climbing though...

That guy is still a git for being such a good climber.

  2. Andrew the drummer likes having pants thrown at him while he plays.

Slander I tell you. Slander. *shakes fist*

It's nice to see that there is at least 1 other person that thinks we're OK! Cheers min...

It'll probably be a few months before we're in a position to gig...but we're getting there...generally best to think of us as hardcore-influenced metal more than hardcore (although we have been dabbling with beatdowns). We are hoping to have some decent pyramids at our gigs though!

  3. you should have put a porsche engine in the back. its a commonly done upgrade.

Everyone says that, but I think it's fairly hard to do (assuming we're talking about the aircooled flat-six from the 80's 911). There's not really the space unless you do fairly drastic bodymods...better with one of the big bore beetle kits - I heard there's a company in the states making 2600cc type 1 motors now! Or a turbo. I've seen intercoolers mounted on top of the engine cover before...

The porker motor fits in a Karmann Ghia though...

Nice bug though Hog. One of my mates used to have something similar - Could beat a Golf VR6 at the lights, but topped out around 70 too, untill he fitted huge twin-choke carbs...then it was nearer 95

  4. We are still looking for a bassist and 2nd guitarist. We are currently tuning to C#/dropped-B and have 6 songs pretty much written, with a whole load of other ideas floating around. We ideally would like other folk to join in whilst we're still at this stage, otherwise it might be a bit more difficult for someone to come in once we've been jamming for a few months.

Come on people, there must be some of you out there into heavy music who are looking for a band...

  5. I felt sorry for his climbing buddy' date=' he took a lot of stick and was heavily critised for cutting the rope. Like he had an option!!!

    [/quote']

I think the film makes Simon Yates (the guy who cut the rope) to be a bit heartless and doesn't really emphisis quite how much he endured trying to save Joe Simpson's life before he was forced to cut the rope. Joe Simpson's said he'd have done the same if it was the other way round.

As usuall, the book's better...it has section's written by Simon about what he was going through at the time too. And also that Richard guy doesn't come out looking quite as useless as the film made him...

Does kinda give me second thoughts about the whole climbing thing though...

    Still a great film though...

  6. when all week the news has been talking about the crazy blizzards on their way today. surely you'd postpone the trip and not go out then get stuck and have to be rescued like the 4 guys from buckie today.

if you were heading up a mountain in november you'd check the weather right?

More worrying is that they seemed to be incapable of navigating. They walked round in circles for a while apparently. It's one thing having the right kit' date=' it's another being able to use it!

BTW, the best place to check the weather for the mountains is www.mwis.org.uk - very useful if you like this sort of thing...

  7. Drummer and Vocalist looking for guitarist(s) and bassist to form a hardcore-influenced metal band.

Influences include Hatebreed, Throwdown, Vison of Disorder, Earth Crisis, Earthtone9, The Haunted, At The Gates, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Will Haven, Refused, Integrity, Pantera, Poison Idea, SOIA, Madball, Freebase...you get the idea...

    PM me if you're interested.
