  1. Hi,

'The Fugitives' are looking for a drummer to join myself (guitar/vocal) and bassist for gigs and recording. Influences include Stones, Beatles, Clash, soul, 50's rock'n'roll, blues. PM if interested and demos also available for interested folks to hear.

    Cheers

    Colin

  2. Hi,

Myself(singer/guitarist) and mate(bassist) looking for musos to complete line up. Shared influences:all things 50's and all things soul, also beatles and clash amongst others. If you've got a passion for 50's rock'n'roll or soul music, that would be a great start for a jam. Looking for drummer and guitarist first off.

    PM please

    Cheers

    Colin

  3. Hi,

Any drummers out there with a passion for 50's music? Myself and my mate are looking to start a band covering all things from the 1950's. All the big guns plus less well-known gems too. Maybe looking for a saxophonist and pianist too at some point. Quiffs entirely optional....

  4. For that matter, we should be up on the moon, getting that Helium-3! It's totally worth it, the energy contained in one kilogram could run NYC for a year! Unfortunately, we seem to have lost our ambition in that area at some point during the cold war. Hopefully, the chinese will pick up the ball!

NASA are currently in the planning stages for a manned mission to mars. Not a lot of people know that!

  5. Maybe people went back to work yesterday & were skint / couldn't be arsed after the trades.

whatever the reasons, it was pretty shit it wasn't too busy - I went in around 7:45 and couldn't believe how empty it was for Ronson (although the reasons became clear after watching him!).

Myabe Aberdonians just like their guitar bands at the AECC - Killers, Kings of Leon, Foo Fighters, etc all sold out quickly enough.

    Or maybe they've got taste?

  6. there's something wrong with the nation when they keep spending their cash on nonsense like the x factor winner every year now. i mean this years x factor song is beyond cringeworthy, i don't mind '21st century christmas' at least cliff is attempting to be modern, he even mentions DVD's in the lyrics, thus proving he's down with the youth of today.

Making it all the more cringeworthy.

It also seems to have every xmas cliche in the book. I think he's also doing some sort of duet with Daniel O Donnell. Now that would be a sight to see!

    Bah Humbug!!!

  7. Try Stringsdirect - Online Guitar Strings and Accessories

You'll get a discount for ordering bulk, not sure how big though. I ordered my latest at 3pm yesterday and they arrived today.

Tried Exilirs once(my acoustic is also cheap), wasn't that impressed with sound and feel and noticed the wear'n'tear after a few strums. String snapped soon after.(Just my experience, I know your not looking for recommendation:up: )

  8. Sorry for my vague descriptions.

Yip, it's got a headphone line-out and I've got the 1/4 inch connections so I could do it.

However on further experimentation, I came to the conclusion that the sound is pretty pish when my recorder is used and I get a much better sound when just using my regular electric amp.

Just making things more complicated than they need to be I guess. Good to experiment though.

    Regards

  9. Howdi.

Just wondering if anyone could give me some advice on this.

I got my acoustic rigged with pick-up for playing live and it sounds not bad. However, I can get a really good electric/acoustic sound by using an effect on my digital recorder.(zoom mrs-802)

But can I first plug into my recorder and then plug into the P.A system to reproduce the sound when playing in a live setting? I can do so using my normal stereo at home using those tiny connections but don't think that will do for a P.A. or even an amp.

I'm still a beginner when it comes to playing live so any advice much appreciate.

    Cheers

  10. I wish they would bugger off to where they came from. I'm not a big doherty fan but success has clearly gone to their heads and they think far too much of themselves as musical 'artists'. Who gives a fuck if they look like fucking dolls. Most programmes they're on are balls anyway. I'd rather walk down Union street on a sunny day where you'll see plenty nice looking totti in the flesh.

    Rant over:swearing:

  11. Play my own tunes, they suit band arrangements but fuck it, i'm going solo for a start.

Could go 2 directions, rock'n'roll/pop or r'n'r/country/blues. When I'm singing and playing, my playing is always rythmic. I'm a keef fanatic! No finger-picking shoe gazing type stuff(not that there's anything wrong with that)

But your right, I'm not after finding the perfect acoustic holy grail of tones at this stage. Just want to get out there and make a noise. I like the idea of the soundhole pick-up with minimum fuss. Can ye pick-up(groan) one of those babies from Millers or R&B? Think the fishman is almost 100, don't think I want to spend that much.

Cheers, appreciate all the replies folks.

  12. Hi.

Wondering if anyone could answer a question with regards to playing live just you and your acoustic. Now I know there's various combinations that you can use with pick-ups and mics and everything but what I need to know at the moment is if you get a gig at local venues that have a PA system, is it possible to bring your acoustic along without pick-up and be able to play a decent sounding gig. Do venues have mics that they can use to mic up and amplify your acoustic or do you need to bring your own pick-up?

    Any advice much appreciated.
