  1. Better warn you that MTA is on holiday so I'll be screwing up your sound. Bring earplugs.

Ouch! Im scared now! Seriously though im really looking forward to playing the Moorings & Jan & Richey have never played there before so we're all looking forward nervously.

  2. Back in the old days I would have drank anything but JD which is totally disgusting. My favourite was the cocktail someone made for me at a party which was a curious mixture of thick curdled Baileys and every other spirit on hand. I was the only one brave (stupid) enough to drink it knocked it back in two gulps and ended up being knocked out for the night. I woke up in this strange flat the next morning feeling very ill and didn't know where I was or what had happened. Had I been drugged no damm it was my own stupidity! Anyway these days I stick strictly to beer and try to only drink once or twice a week. My favourites from the old days though are Pernod and Orange, White Wine, and Vodka and Coke.

  3. I just thought I should let everyone know about Stroszek a new band who play their first show next week at the Moorings. We've set up a site on Myspace at www.myspace.com/stroszekuk for more information.

I was hoping to get some of our tracks on there but I i've got a prob with my damm computer right now but hopefully we'll get that sorted out soon. Cheers!

  4. Again like the above post in no order apart from the first one. This is off the top of my head and the list would probaly change from day to day. My first choice is my definte favourite though.

    1. Galaxie 500 - On Fire

    Joy Division - Closer

New Order - Power, Corruption & Lies

    Lush - Split

    Pil - Metal Box

    Galaxie 500 (again!) - Today

    Velvet Underground - Loaded

    The Cure - Faith

    Kraftwerk - Man Machine

    Buzzcocks - Singles Going Steady

All these albums bar one are from the eighties and back why is that? Anyway the Stellastar and Ambulance LTD albums are great but maybe too new to be put in my list?

  5. I actually enjoyed watching the bands at that time! I never was a fan of the Politik EP but I really enjoyed them this time, Dedalus were great as ever although I thought they were a bit more loose probaly because they looked so tired. Also im not sure about the Polka song yet though i've only heard it once so its bound to grow on me. Still one of my favorite bands though. Hookers Green were my favourites though on Saturday and it was good to see some melodica action. I must look for one myself!

  6. We've spoke about it and decided that were calling it Stoszek! We've also set up an email account stoszek@hotmail.co.uk so anyone interested can send us an email. We are going to be practicing as a two piece anyway for now and hopefully we will have a full line-up asap!

  7. Yeah i've got down 8 tracks as rough demos at home that would be used for the new band and I also have a lot of stuff that I am about to record. Using the drum machine has allowed me to work the songs out how I want (rem old joke about only having to punch the info into the drum machine once!) and I have been able to work out some really interesting arrangements as a result. It fits the music so we want to stick with it as it actually sounds better as everything is dead tight! I can't say if the songs are good myself but I have got a positive response and our singer loves them. Also he is writing really interesting lyrics that move away from the usual 'my girlfriends left me and the cats died' type of lyric so it should all be good. The band will probaly be called 'Strozek'.

  8. sounds like a really good band idea..good luck finding someone

The bad news is that I have found no-one yet! Its frustrating as we have everything in place and as soon as we find a bass player we can get down to work. Someone like Hooky from New Order or indeed early Valley 69! There must be someone out there at a loose end who feels the need to play beautiful music! Give me a shout before this turns into one of Delia Smiths half time rants! ASAP!!

  9. Hey we are a new Aberdeen band featuring a guitarist, keyboardist, programmer and a vocalist, keyboardist both in their early twenties. We currently have more than enough material for gigging and are looking for a bassist to add to the music and complete the line-up! We are not looking for someone who can play slap-funk bass just someone who can play simply and fit the style of music! The attitude is more important than technical brilliance! Our music ranges from faster punkier material to slower more spaced-out affairs.

Influences include The Cure, Interpol, Joy Division/New Order, Television, The Clash, Very early REM, Galaxie 500, Low, 4AD Records (Pixies, Lush, Cocteau Twins)

We currently have an all-male line-up though anyone can apply (except covers band bassists!).

Interested then send me a PM ASAP!
