  1. Not exactly fair on the brightest kid though... it holds them back from the level of education they have the ability to achieve.

Sorry I was being a little sarcastic. I thought I could take being PC to the ultimate level where no one has to feel inadeqaute by high acheivers.

  2. agreed.

anyone outwith exceptional circumstance that fails.... deserved to fail.

I failed plenty of exams... I'm not thick I just didn't put in the work that's required. It's my own fault.

I don't get why people should basically be handed qualifiations.

I agree too. I remember some guy I was at college with who, to be honest, wasin't the sharpest tool in the box and realistically had no chance of passing his course being taken outside and virtually given the answers. The lecturers just don't want a fail against their name. Thats why schools/ colleges/ uni etc should be about learning not precentages of students who passed in that year.

  3. Banning the word 'failure' should really pepare kids for the harsh reality of everyday life... I propose a system of 'group sucsess' where everyone helps each other to attain the same level of sucsess so no-one has to do better than anyone else.

  4. I also enjoyed that song. Did Dave just take it upon himself to play it? I've heard Cuts' date=' Dedalus, The Needles and now Stroszek in Exodus, which is very encouraging, but people should go to the gigs and dance[/quote']

Btw I should say your right. Everyone should go to gigs then go to Exodus and Dance like a mad fool. Oh yeah baby!

  5. How ace! I remember speaking to someone and saying 'that's my song' and they thought I was making it all up. One of the better nights anyway. But I wish they would get some proper air conditioning. Surely their making enough cash as the place is allways packed. Its unbearable at times.

  6. You can have my old yellow guitar I used to use in the early days of The Cuts if you wanted, which im sure you'll remember! Its a good guitar maybe needs some minor repairs to the humbucker where a spring is missing. 50.

  7. Cheers we're making progress on the bass front so we should be back soon thankfully. Drums come out of a little black box right now which has its advantages and disadvantages but I feel that could be the topic of another thread...

  8. Unfortunately due to time constraints Jan has had to leave Stroszek - we wish him well and we part on good terms.

As a result we're looking for a new bassist to come and join Stroszek ASAP. We're looking for two things above all else - we need someone who can give us there time to practice and play gigs and we need someone we get on with and enjoy hanging about with! We want to find someone quickly so that we can get our demo tape out to venues and start playing gigs again. We recently played our first gig at the Moorings which was recieved very well by those who saw it. If you need more information then you can visit www.mypace.com/stroszekuk to hear some tracks and find out what we do (we like The Cure, Wire, Television for example). If your interested then send a PM to me.

    Cheers, Les.

  9. I once played Drakes to about 7 people so got totally pissed. Came on stage where me and the drummer just spent the first song laughing at each other then my guitar strap fell off in the second song and I had to play the rest of the song on my nees. Lucky no-one was there really.

  10. As for the name we asked a lot of people who all said Stroszek it wasin't first choice by any means but we're happy with it. Never mind the JD thing cos we're not JD copyists but love or type of music www.myspace.com/stroszekuk .

I think I was a bit boozy when I wrote this. Does anyone know what the hell I was on about? This makes no sense to me! :help: I speak such utter crap when under the influence!

  11. Presumably you named the band after the film of the same name' date=' and presumably you know Ian Curtis watched this film the night before he killed himself? This might lead to people associating you with them.

Why are the songs not available to download? My can't connection doesn't buffer them, so I can't listen to them, and I really want to because the bands you list are almost the exact same ones by band is influenced by![/quote']

Ok the songs are now available to download for now hope this is a good idea. As for the name we asked a lot of people who all said Stroszek it wasin't first choice by any means but we're happy with it. Never mind the JD thing cos we're not JD copyists but love or type of music www.myspace.com/stroszekuk .

  12. Mr Pisshead...if you haven't heard the Only Ones' date=' give them a listen. I think you'll enjoy their stuff

(I also like Galaxie 500 a lot, and have some connections with them, but I think I already told you that????).[/quote']

Definately. I know 'Another Girl, Another Planet' which is an absolute classic so its probaly time I checked out some of there other stuff. And I got your G500 message lucky you!

  13. No it was most certainly not I would never be that obvious! Anyway my favorite band is Galaxie 500 & I've been listening to the Jesus & Mary Chain, Yo Le Tengo, Gang of Four & Magazine recently so we're not Joy Division copyists! OK! Seriously though the first song online (No More Exclusives) has a kind of JD thing going on but on average I don't think we sound like them. The second track is a kind of Couteau Twins/Durutti Column esque instrumental.

  14. Hey the poster fot the gig says: Stoszek ex-Cuts post-punk Joy Division sound. Oh Dear just what I wanted! Then everyone compares us to Joy Division! Guess I can't complain though we're not trying to copy JD its just that I can only do really simple stuff, like Barney from JD, on guitar! Thanks for the kind words.
