thats where almost all the shite hangs out

Apart from having their own video on SCUZZ and whatever, they dont seem to have much else. A poor website, and a bad reputation created for when the lead singer swung from the ceiling and literally brought the house down. Oh shit, they're also signed to Tower Records. And we're supporting them at Kef. Im interested in their contacts, punk music doesnt do much for me personally - especially the outrageous kind. But, could be a good night? Anythings possible.

  2. Once a band moves up to the 'next' level' date=' its unusual not to have a contract, you start to book gigs through a booking agent and the contract is there to protect both parties.

Its a very professional way of working things, and if there is a problem then the agent is usually the ones to persue things.

You should also have someone in your crew who isnt scared to hold the contract under the nose of the promoter and point out that the contract states you get 100 whether you fill the gig or not....and thats in cash mush, you then follow him round the venue untill he actually hands you the money....and if he tries the "oh sorry, its all in small change" trick then you remain in the gig untill you have counted it all (including a couple of mis-counts) I bet he finds some 20 notes after about ten minutes of hastle from the bar staff who all want home.....yes I've bin there and done that.

Or the time we turned up to play a gig at Ayr pavilion (sadly now burned down) to be told by the caretaker that the gig was cancelled, we had the promoters address on the contract with a 600 guarantee'd fee...so we paid him a visit and after a little persuasion he made out a cheque to cash, I got one of the guys to run along to his bank to cash it while I stood outside his glass front door to make sure he didnt call the bank to cancel it.... :nono:

    I should write a book... :D[/quote']

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, we had a similar thing when we played in Inverness at the start of the month. We travelled to Inverness on the knowledge that we were playing in a known venue and were to be paid a minimum of 150. The venue was no more than a glorified youth club with about 25 kids running around stupid. The night only brought in about 180 and the guy from the band (The Funky Munks) tried to cop out of the agreement at the realisation that his night was a complete failure! Needless to say our manager kicked hiss ass and we got our money. DONT GO TO INVERNESS! :nono: The Munks have an awesome guitarist :band: but then again he was drunk, stoned etc when he was playing. Kudos to him! I feel for Cleartone, big kick in the balls like. You deserve better.

  3. aye but ive seen yer singers dance moves....ouch...nae pretty im afraid

I can take it. I know im not as graceful as I'd like to be, but im working on it. I just look terrible next to Liam. lol Im taking this as "tongue-in-cheek" just so you know that I was born with a sense of humour. At the end of the day I just concentrate on the vocals and dont spend enough time sending the right signals to the rest of my body. Its a learning curve. Anyone know a dance teacher or yoga, Liam's eager for a bit of yoga! :help: lol

  4. i really detest some of the hippy dippy views bandied about on this here message board by dim witted cribbage enthusiasts. its a message board' date=' its not real life, it is in fact a kind of blood sport. identity is a gay name for a band. any more of this and my likeometer will go right into the red and the fuse box will blip out on the 10db slate, any how a mono mix is better at lunch time: sentiments best summed up by the late great Layne Staley-

" fuck, i cant feel my feet, it must be gout.....oh! i'm drooling now...."

    baaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnndaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnnnaaaaaaaaaaaa

i'll stop now, i'll have no tokens left at this rate.[/quote']

    Saint who?

  5. Anway, I never once said that this forum was 'the scene.' I just dont appreciate being put down by people who have such little consideration for others in regards to music. I also dont appreciate being told to "run tae fuck." When all we asked for was if anyone had any gig dates free. Its pathetic. I doubt that this site was created in the vision that it was going to be used by people as a medium to brush their own egos. New bands who try and gather what little gigs there are have usually got to kiss the ass off every 'known band there is in 'the scene' before they are accepted. What the fuck is up with that!? Why should this have to happen?

  6. who can honestly say that ,as a band or individual, try and work with others to try and improve relationships and contacts with promoters/venue owners and other bands in general? I cant help but point out that alot of people on this site spend their time slating others without any amount of constructive critcism. Its sad that there are so many people out there that go out of their way to place a blunt, useless and totally unproductive comment on others who neither provoked it or deserved it. So who could say that they are truly in it for the music and the sheer enjoyment of effectively progressing both yourself and others??

Just thought that this would shed some light on issues that are present in this site day to day. I dont want to start a revolution or anything, I just want people to realise that this place would be absoloutely incredible if everyone would just cut the bullshit!

    Any thoughts?

  7. What do you guys do before you begin playing at a gig after a soundcheck or whatever? Do you stay together and talk about what you're going to do? About what you want to achieve in your performance that night? I was just wondering what kind of bonds others have with their bands in this area.

  8. As far as we has seen or experienced, the Moorings has the most looked after, efficient set up in Aberdeen. No where else locally respects their venue and the people in it as much as Flash and his team do. Seriously, even the set-up at Fury's in Glasgow (which is supposed to be one of the greatest live sound venues in the country) stands in the shadow of them. The whole deal with cutting out soundchecks seems fair on most levels and we agree with what your doing in the majority. IDENTITY like to soundcheck like any other band, but its not always necessary. Anyhoo if bands are putting in real effort they'd have their own sound sorted out before the gig and be organised without the need of a thorough soundcheck. Am I wrong? We trust the staff to do their job and they do it well all the time! I've no problem with leaving it all in their hands. They're capable.

See you on the 5th Flash
