  1. As part of the sound festival, Matthew Herbert brings his incredible One Pig show to the NorthEast with just one show out at Woodend Barn near Banchory this Saturday at 8pm. One Pig is the story of a single, anonymous farm animal’s journey from birth to plate. The album is an elegy to a life lived for the benefit of humans and raises complex questions about our relationship to these often-maligned and misunderstood creatures. One Pig is made entirely out of sounds from the pig and its surroundings – the first squeals, the sound of it being alone for the first time, and the dripping of its blood after being butchered. The result is a delicate, beautiful, and occasional terrifying musical composition with a profundity rarely heard in electronic music. 2. Hi, At 6pm on Thursday 1st November we will fill the Picture Gallery in Marischal College with loudspeakers and enjoy a multi-channel klangfest of exciting music connected with the pioneering French electroacoustic Music Studios in Bourges, France - IMEB (www.imeb.net). The co-director Francoise Barriere will be in residence performing three pieces by composers associated with the studios, including herself. The second half consists of British pieces associated with the studios by Adrian Moore and Diana Simpson as well as the first performance of a new piece by Pete Stollery entitled Back to Square One, composed in the studios at Bourges this year. The concert is free - donations on the door.
