From what I remember of my days in the torture house, sounds like they haven't recalibrated the grinder when a new barista goes onto the machine, which they're meant to - otherwise the coffee can taste burnt or watery, depending on how fine the grind is. Also, the water is probably too hot and it's burning the coffee.
Basically, staff dont know what they're doing so either go elsewhere or keep buying lattes. I go to starbucks now because they're all lovely and white mochas are a great sugar/caffiene hit.
I am considering getting an aero press, heard lots of good things!

Folk mispronouncing everyday words, I didnt realise it'd grate on me so much.
Like foreWARD, rather than forward and RevvEW instead of review.
Unfortunately these are words used often in my office and there's nae hiding from it.

Oooh so close, this is my best year yet!

Pet hate: When an office colleague openly giggles with exaggeration whilst reading something clearly unrelated to work—giggling audibly in the hope that someone engages them about what is making them laugh. Y’know, because it’s so fucking funny.
Pet hate antidote: When nobody in the office engages the giggling attention-seeker, leaving them to exponentially reduce the giggles until it’s clear nobody in the office gives two dick-socking fucks.
My world is turned by the small victories.
I used to ignore these calls for attention, it was fun. Now my office isnt full of those kind of folk and it's ace.

any one else secretly love RuPauls Drag Race?
yeah, nah.. me either
I LOVE IT!! I'm just starting S6 and catching up on the latest episode of the current season. I hated S2 because the queens were haggered compared to S1 but so glad I skipped and went to S3 everyone hates the S2 winner so I think I made the right choice.

Archer I think, isnt that on 7?

See? Seems so simple but nah, just can't do it.

Adam West. I'm not witty enough to do puns...

I watched the first 2 episodes last night... its awesome but what the fuck is going on?!?!
I think they make it a clearer in episode 3 or 4 - they straight out say what is happening and who is who, whereas in the book (soz) it isn't as explicit.

Anyone watching American Gods? It's a bit different - Gillian Anderson is in it and she's brilliant. To be fair, all the actors and characters are great.

Yuss. It's not really an achievement you can brag about, though...

Christ, I forgot I had him on my list.

I saw him om his solo tour a few years ago in Glasgow and it was a really enjoyable gig - very chilled and just him basically pissing about inbetween songs. Shame

Even the lottery says don't be a dick about it

Definitely entitled to fuck all. I thought it was weird one of my chums had to actually say at bingo (I know, real rock n roll bitch here...) that she doesn't share winnings. Well, duh, you bought your own book so it's your money.
Sadly advice that includes a time machine is useless, so she needs to decide what she is comfortable with - be confident and stand up for herself (there's a possibility once people know she gives into peer pressure that they'll pull other stunts after this, it sets a precedent) and politely say she won't be sharing or do what Soda says and gives a little, but not as much as 5K, as a thank you.

Folk with "slopey shoulders" - the ones who try worm out of dealing with difficult situations or like to pass jobs onto others.
Nope, I'll bat it right back at you.

Any time I talk about the dead pool, folk are initially shocked and act horrified, but within seconds have already started compiling their own list. None have signed up just yet, though.

Scubby - give my number 51 a look. Written by a Uni friend of mine and it's a bit sci fi and really well paced.
Fab, cheers - I've added it to my wishlist for when payday comes along

I'm going to try and keep a list of the books I read this year, I've been lazy and re-read a lot of old favourites rather than the stack of newbies that are piling up. Any recommendations of new releases from last year? I'm a lover of fantasy and sci fi.

I don't think I have any unique picks for this year, going by last years lists. Unless folks have changed them considerably...
-
1 - Karloff - agree with it always being a good show, and they introduced me to psychobilly.
2 - Statue of Misery - they were fucking hated and rightfully so, (the majority of the band were bell-ends and I married the biggest one) but I was a little metal head and have fond memories from the gigs.
3 - Black Atom
4 - Semperfi - again, fond memories of their gigs
5 - Thrashist Regime

I'm a horrible person, I came here within minutes of finding out... I think she's still on my list, after all this time.

Braindead on Amazon Prime is pretty damn good, it has enough weird sci-fi and the right amount of comedy - plus it takes the piss out of American politics.
