  1. I'd just like to point out before you go looking for sites to download mp3 files, be wary of sites such as allofmp3.com and mp3sugar.com...these sites do not pay anything to the artists or labels. They're usually based in Russia and exploit weak Russian laws which allow companies to use copyrighted music and sell it however they like. P2P isn't exactly legal but at least through this method you're not paying criminals, just use P2P to preview albums.

If you're one of those who wishs to keep music going then stick with legit methods like iTunes (and I believe napster are ok these days?) they're not fantastic but they're better than nothing. Also indie labels can use iTunes and I know many small bands who take advantage of the service. Otherwise do what onlynik suggested and rip you cd to mp3 format, iTunes is my favourite tool for this.

  2. But em...the final assault on the UN post was by a fighter jet. I didnt realise the Hezbollah airforce were so powerful

I think it was a different attack.

But what gets me is everyone is going on about the UN observers who were killed but virtually nothing has been mentioned on the news about the two red cross ambulances targeted and bombed by the IDF killing those inside.

  3. Those Israeli officials and the military really need their asses kicked...

BEIRUT, July 27 (Reuters) - Along Lebanon's sandy beaches and rocky headlands runs a belt of black sludge, 10,000 to 30,000 tonnes of oil that spilled into the Mediterranean Sea after Israel bombed a power plant.

Lebanon's Environment Ministry says the oil flooded into the sea when Israeli jets hit storage tanks at the Jiyyeh plant south of Beirut on July 13 and 15, creating an ecological crisis that Lebanon's government has neither the money nor the expertise to deal with.

"We have never seen a spill like this in the history of Lebanon. It is a major catastrophe," Environment Minister Yacoub al-Sarraf told Reuters.

"The equipment we have is for minor spills. We use it once in a blue moon to clean a small spill of 50 tonnes or so. To clean this whole thing up we would need an armada ... The cost of a full clean-up could run as high as $40-50 million."

The spill is especially threatening since fish spawn and sea turtles nest on Lebanon's coast, including the green turtle which is endangered in the Mediterranean, local ecologists say.

Lebanon has turned to oil producer Kuwait for help. A plane load of equipment is due to arrive from Kuwait via Syria by the end of the week, Sarraf said.

But one of the main problems is that an Israeli air and sea blockade in place since the war began on July 12 is hampering both the clean-up and the delivery of equipment.

"To really clean it up we need access to the sea, which we don't have," Sarraf said. "We need more equipment and mobilisation but for that we need the hostilities to end."

  4. Israel tried to blame Hezbollah for UN post attack

JERUSALEM -- A U.N.-run observation post just inside Israel was struck during fighting between Israel and Hezbollah militants on Friday. The Israeli army blamed Hezbollah rockets but a U.N. officer said it was an artillery shell fired by the Israeli Defense Force.

A U.N. officer, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the situation, said an artillery shell fired by Israel made "a direct hit on the U.N. position overlooking Zarit." The post is part of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon.

But an IDF spokesman said the position was hit by rockets fired by Hezbollah that fell short of their targets in northern Israel.

The U.N. official said the facility was severely damaged but none of the Ghanian troops inside the bomb shelters inside were injured.

  5. At last! The Israeli Prime Minister confirmed my thoughts that the Israeli authorities are more concerned about saving their soldiers than the lives of civilians, taken from Stripey's BBC article above...

He said that in order to prevent casualties amongst Israeli soldiers battling Hezbollah militants in southern Lebanon, villages should be flattened by the Israeli air force before ground troops move in.
why can't they just like....share there land?

Because to much shit was stirred when Israel was created against the wishes of those who lived on the land (and subsequently were removed) and it all went downhill from there. Anyway I'd not want to share any land with the insane israeli government and their military. Not that I speak for these people.

  6. Anyone notice Israeli officials were falling over themselves to explain this as not deliberate, an accident and something regretful. Had the target been (Arab) Lebanese civilians they wouldn't give a shit.

I think the BBC were interviewing some Israeli military commander and he was ranting on about Israeli civilians being killed, but when asked about the hundreds of dead Lebanese civilians being killed by Israel he totally changed the topic and started ranting about the fight against terrorism.

  7. What can we do other than watch? I'm going to attempt to do my small part and work out if I can possibly boycott Israeli products and support Israeli human rights groups.

This is so screwed up now I don't know what to say...and I don't know whats worse; the israeli bombings of civilians in such an extreme manner or the fact many people consider this ok.

  8. thats your opinion.

ok then how about' date=' in my experience of seeing bands 30mins [i']is short for what appeared to be the headliner. I would have liked more because...shock... I liked them, if you want to argue about this feel free to send me a private message.

Something like that but probably more staggered.

Right, now I see (from a different post) the setlist was changed as this is not how it looked on the poster...not everyone lives on AM you know.

  9. Ok so, that was good.

I missed the first two sets not thinking they'd be on so early and ended up arriving just before those guys with "the hair" were about to play. Not sure I liked them much although I have to say I prefered the parts of their set where they had more distortion and effects going on...guitars and drums just don't do anything for me personally.

I have no idea who the guy screaming was as I hadn't looked at the setlist, anyway I'd have prefered more electonic noise with this as the drums alone didn't do much for me.

Julius Seizure were ace!!! I really liked these guys and aberdeen could do with having them play again in the future...but why such a short set? I was really enjoying it and then they finish :(

Oh and am i in the wrong thread or something? I have no idea what you guys are discussing, and where's this...

  10. I've no sympathy for neds/chavs' date=' kids on the radge, whatever but Chavscum strikes me as a singularly unpleasant site anyway. Way too much sneering & judgemental bollocks.[/quote']

What would you rather have, that or people going out and starting fights with them instead as a form of handling the abuse neds radiate towards society?

  11. If there's one thing I've learnt here its that discussing this issue with people who so blindly support the oppressive and violent actions by state of Israel (yes of course the GOVERNMENT and the MILITARY) and continue to make excuses no matter what they're faced with is completely pointless. Its like they ignore the facts and blank out the reality. But thankfully they're in the minority, sadly on a wider scale they're the ones who call the shots.

  12. Israel is the most volatile state on the planet. No nation would interfere.

Especially not since they have the US to back them up on everything. Israel have ignored over 60 (almost 100) UN resolutions against them so far' date=' about 30 others have been Vetoed by the US to help out Israel.

The whole situation is fucked up and nobody is going to help unless they can benefit some how. One thing I hate is the way most people see Palestinians as terrorists and Israel as a vitcim state.

    [b']@Snakebite

This topic is pretty usless these days, you're better off finding a way to actually do something yourself...even if its just a donation to the Palestinians through a charity, they NEED it.

and to answer this - "Who has the right to kill innocent people?" - Nobody on earth has the right.
