  1. Good choice - I have the AC30CC-1, single speaker version of that head. I generally have it set up guitar>TS>amp. You can get some cool sounds out of it, ranging from really warm clean to some brutal crunchy goodness. The reverb is very nice, and the tremolo is quite good too, although I personally never had much use for. As you will find out eventually, the amp is foolishly loud! I put a Celestion Alnico Gold in mine - epic! Only problem is that the new speaker is considerably heavier than the original NeoDog. The combo is now stupidly heavy so it's probably a good thing you went for the head version. I can't even imagine having to carry one of the 2 speaker versions with the proper speakers fitted!

  2. You can't go wrong with a Fender Mustang i. I've got one in my flat as big valve amps just aren't practical unless they are on stage or in the studio. The pre-programmed settings are pretty good, but you get software with it to go in and tinker about with it. Being a Fender, it offers a lot of the Fender amp sounds, but also covers the likes of Marshall, Vox and Mesa pretty well too. It can be used as a recording interface too - so if you don't have one of them already and could be doing with one, it's in there. They are really cheap for what they are - £90 or so from ii Music in the Academy shopping centre. Look on youtube for video demos - the vast majority of them are really good.

As I said, you can't go wrong with the Mustang!

  4. I have four 205 55 R16 tyres for sale. They aren't the sportiest of tyres, but if you're looking for a cheap set of tyres of general running around or to get through an MOT these are perfect. They have good tread depth left on them (7mm) and are all in good condition.

    £100 for four.

  5. I’ve got too much guitar gear at the moment so have decided to sell off a few things to clear up some space.

Tokai Rickenbacker 330 copy (Black): £175

Other than a couple of light scratches in the lacquer and one small chip on the body, it’s in good overall condition. Acoustically it is very resonant and has the classic jangly Rickenbacker tone when plugged in. It plays very nicely.

Bare Knuckle Black Dog set: £100

These pickups have black, open coils. They come boxed and with mounting screws etc. There is still plenty of length left on the cables. The pickups have the usual light scratches on the surface, but are in generally good condition.

    Boss OD-3 Overdrive: £45

This has a couple of small chips but is in full working order.

    Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive: £25

This one is in pretty much new condition. I might have the box for it.

    Boss FDR-1 Fender ’65 Deluxe Reverb: £50

This pedal has a few features. It has a pretty cool spring reverb, ‘vibrato’ (actually tremolo) and can also be used as an overdrive pedal. I used to use it for a solo boost (with a little added reverb). As with the other pedals, it’s in generally good condition and I might be able to find the box for this one too.

    1x Celestion NeoDog 16Ω: £20

This speaker was removed from a Vox AC30 CC1 and is in good, working condition.

    4x Celestion G12T-75 16Ω: £125 for all 4 (or swap for 2x Celestion Greenbacks 16Ω)

These speakers were removed from a Marshall 1960 cab are in good, working condition.

2x Celestion Vintage 30 16Ω: £125 for both (or swap for 2x Celestion Greenbacks 16Ω)

These are currently in a cab but can easily be removed if required. They are both in good, working condition.

Send me a PM with your email address if you want pictures of any of the above. All items are in Aberdeen and can be seen/tried out prior to purchase.

  6. Have a look at www.ampmaker.com if you fancy making an amp. I made the PP-36 last year but should have made one of the lower powered ones. It's foolishly loud and has no master volume so you can't really get any form of gain without breaking your ears.

The lower powered ones come with pretty good instructions - you can actually see them online before buying.

The kit itself is very good. If you make it and it doesn't work, you can phone/email the guy and he'll tell you what to test and source the problem. Definitely recommended.

  7. I have some spare Celestions, all 16 Ohm and all in good condition:

    4x Celestion G12T-75 removed from a Marshall 1960 cab

1x Celestion Neodymium NeoDog removed from a Vox AC30 CC1

Give me a shout if any of them are of interest.
