  1. Despite getting daytime rotation Alamos have still to get into the daily MTV2/NME top 10

which is currently filled with likes of Foo Fighters, White Stripes, Maximo Park, et al.

Please do keep voting this week from Monday 4th July onwards and let's see if we can get a Scottish band in there.

With a bit of luck My Latest Novel & Dead Fly Buchowski will follow suit.

    Bring it on!

  2. but necessary none the less

petpiranha.com now has a mailing list up and running so if you'd like to find out what the label & bands are up to, you can join now.

  3. Excellent points made there - Aberdeen has a great scene, keep it up! And well done to all those who work hard to maintain it.

I really enjoyed GoNorth and it was fun seeing so many bands at once, as well as getting more familar with the venues! Ok, so there were a lot of Aberdeen bands disappointed that they didnt play it, but if you're trying to get noticed then GoNorth isn't necessarily how to do it. There is never anything 'fair' about the music industry at any level, regardless of what you may be led to believe, because music is totally subjective. Accept that and move on. All of your favourite musicians were told they were crap at some stage, by someone who wasn't into it, they just happened to find the one guy at a label who thought different.

Scottish acts that make good music will always (eventually) be noticed if you keep at it and stick to your guns. The harsh reality is that many Scottish bands who think they're really good, are actually just ok, and not exciting/interesting enough to warrant getting signed. It's the same in every city, town and village around the country. And instead of focusing on what a band needs to do to improve musically, frustration and petty jealousy then comes out on msgboards.

I say put on some kind of all-day rock/punk/hc/metal fest like REVOLTFEST in Dundee. If you can keep the quality of bands up and advertise it heavily then it'll attract an audience. Apologies if you guys already have something like that going on! I'd definitely make the effort to catch an all-dayer like that if the line-up was great.

As always, any bands needing help and/or advice can find me at: contact@petpiranha.com

  4. hiya

wasn't sure what email addy you're using these days, hence the post.

Ipsofacto from Wales have asked me to help them get a few Scottish dates between the 22nd and 26th of July as part of their UK tour that month. Would you be able to help them out with an aberdeen gig at all? Ideally they'd like money towards petrol expenses. They're helping Alamos out with a Welsh tour in Sept.

let me know if you can help!

  5. Hi all

everyone in dundee loves perineum. Unlike most bands they genuinely dont give a fuck about anyone noticing them or achieving anything other than rocking as hard as possible. Which makes you love them all the more for it. Even the live recordings over at www.myspace.com/perineumtheband are fucking jaw-dropping.

Fuck MTS. Get your asses along for Project Ven Hell & Perineum.

    This gig will rule all!!!
