  1. I agree with Kirk, this is not fair to the Puks.

King Liar & the Brutes do, however, deserve a nomination in the Best Music Video category for their harrowing 'Neon Lights' film. It's a shame that only 8 people have seen it, though there are another 8 out there who could see it today if they would only trust us.

  2. Everybody's favourite 2-piece Cajun punk act return to the Tunnels tonight (Wednesday 14th September) for the semi-final of the Battle of the Bands. They want to tell you about King Cheetah and learn about Zydeco, and who can blame them?

As yet, stage-time for these balaclaved gentlemen has not been confirmed. It will be decided by the Tunnels tonight. 3 other bands are also taking part but I don't know who they are. Sorry.

Do your best! Entry is probably 3.

  3. Thoth, you did get one, but only briefly. If you had any sense, you would have gripped that treasure to your chest and run straight home the moment it was handed to you. Instead, you sat around and let it be coded out of your hands. A true blackthumbing, I pity you.

You can have another copy provided you promise to take better care of it. Everyone deserves to hear the song Buc was born to sing.

  4. There have been 5 Brutes CDs. The first two volumes of American Fag-Hits are lost to you now, and always will have been unless you were at early Dr Drakes gigs and gave us a pound. Peace At Last and it's future-father Europe's Final Band are still available from One Up at a very low price, and at least one of them can be borrowed from your local library (if you live in Aberdeen).

The 5th CD is Cabaret Rape . If you were in the Tunnels this past Saturday sometime between 9pm & 10pm and had your eyes open, you would have seen this being handed out free to random kids. It contains 4 new songs and a video.

We are all very proud of our video and would like everyone to see it. At present, only those kids who both a) accepted a CD on Saturday night, and b) have the gumption to put the CD in their PC and click the right button, will ever behold the sight of #1 World Grand Prix Racing Circuit Driver Champion #1 driving around Aberdeen and singing his heart out.

If anyone really wants one, PM me with details and I will do my best.

  5. I'm glad we took our time to tell Ted's story, and we have literally never told Disco Blast at that speed before. Sometimes there are more stories than there is time to tell them.

How many kids got a CD? Has anybody watched the video yet? Why isn't it the talk of the boards?

  6. For those who aren't already aware, King Liar and the Brutes will be making their seasonal appearance at the Tunnels, this Saturday 30th July, as part of the Blood Punk Holocaust UK '05 celebrations.

Fellow worthies Project: Ven-Hell, The Planeteers, Noisenik Riots, Los Caballeros, Asian Morisette and A Gayboy Scene will also be in on the action, starting from 4pm and running to 11pm. 5 DJs will play what they want, and you will like it.

KLATB will be handing out free copies of their new EP, 'Cabaret Rape', featuring 4 new tracks and a video for their surprisingly touching cover of Kraftwerk's Neon Lights. 100% true. Good deal.

    3, this Saturday. Heads up.

  7. You punks! My fellow Brute did what he could to tell the news. Soundcheck runs 2pm - 4pm. Someone has to soundcheck, or the Tunnels will sue us and every band on the bill will be legally obliged to break up! Is that what you want?

7th band added to the bill: A Gayboy Scene. Good luck to them.

Bruce Gatsby has been ranting like a frantic fool. I'm not sure whether to let him attend the gig, never mind host it. We'll see.

  8. At the Tunnels, Saturday 30th July, it's

    BLOOD PUNK HOLOCAUST UK '05

    Featuring live performances by:

    King Liar & the Brutes

    Project: Ven-Hell

    The Planeteers

    The Noisenik Riots

    Los Caballeros

    Asian Morissette

The event runs from 4pm to 11pm. There will be a selection of 5 DJs playing whatever they like, and it will all be good. Donside Record's enigmatic Bruce Gatsby will be hosting the event.

    Admission: Only 3.

  9. Didn't see that coming!

The solo album is out, came out on Monday. I like it.

When did Billy Corgan vow to never play in the UK again? Zwan played here, and he played the London Forum last Thursday!

I'm not sure there's really any need for the Smashing Pumpkins to reform. It would be great to be able to see / hear Pumpkins songs being performed live again, but it seems like a step backwards. Plus, surely the same problems that split the band in the first place would still be there?

  10. Billy Corgan's personality & songwriting skills were the main force behind the music of the Smashing Pumpkins & Zwan, and of course the same applies to his new solo work. As such, if you have an appreciation of the man, I don't see how any of the acts can be that much of a disappointment.

I think TheFutureEmbrace is a pretty good album, though I need more time to digest it properly. Incidentally, I saw Billy Corgan perform at the London Forum on June 16th & the songs sound particularly bold live. Lots of audience interaction and laughs from Mr Corgan too, which was good to see.

  11. I am a bit surprised about B0lly's tracklisting for his album... No friends as lovers' date=' for your love, W.P? [/quote']

Friends as Lovers and For Your Love were both products of the Zwan era & performed with Zwan / Djali Zwan, so I guess they are confined to a state of existing only as live recordings, like the dozens of other Zwan tracks that didn't make it to the studio. I don't know what W.P is.
