  1. Believe it or not but we actually played on the same bill as 5:15 in dec. At Moshulu supporting DRIVEBLIND. It was an odd line up but it was a family thing. Our old drummer was playing for them at the time so I'm fully aware of their sound. I'm just under the thinking that they were Indie. Just because of the Stone Roses, The Verve, Ocean Colourscene inspired guitar riffs accompanied by the vintage 70s organ that seem to hint at Kula Shaker or The Charlatans. Along with the Shed Seven toe tapping that you seem to find yourself helplessly doing when watching them. I just don't think the stereo typical vision ROCK makes you do this. But if this year the fudge boys are doing away with the Best Indie category then I suppose they would fit. But however so would all the other bands from the categories so far.

And yeah I maybe exaggerated a little but. Kashmir Red remain the only band I have ever walked out of. I walked out half way through the set and returned to the gig 40mins later when it was safe to say they were finished. I'm sorry.

  2. Ha Ha! Didn't realise my post would be so controversial. I stand by my statement because I feel its true. But then its just my personal opinion and not stated fact. As is your opinion about my band. I wouldn't be in a band if I couldn't handle the prospect of someone actuallyt NOT liking the music I help write. I don't like Franz Ferdinand but they're prob the country's biggest band. I don't really like the Foo Fighters but they're prob one of the WORLD's biggest bands. But that's my personal opinion. As is my choice to vote for ERIC EUAN who I see as the city's best Rock act. I don't see Fivefiteen as a rock band, more of an Indy band. And I know that Indy is a type of rock but why would there be a seperate Indy Award if there wasn't a difference.

"In the presence of absence" - sorry that's my bad. English Isn't my first language.

  3. I couldn't stay for Blakfish but St Louis were fuckin ace! The songs worked really well as instrumentals I thought. And the off mic Shouting/Singing from the band worked really well.

Secta Rouge were also worth a mention. The varied styles of singing were amazing. The growling to the screaming to the Incubus meets System constant pouring of lyrics was immense. And not to mention that two part finger tapping guitar harmony. It was like watching Dream theater at times.

Great gig but poorly attended for a band like Meet Me In St. Louis. Hopefully it won't put them off coming back again. Hopefully they will have sorted their singer problem by then.

  4. My favourite song by a Local band would have to be 'Orchard' by The Welfare Mothers. However I think they've been playin it for a wee while.

Best Live band for me is hard but I think Kartta win it by a whisker. Not often I can shoe gaze then dance my little flabby tits off in the same set.

Best new band. hmmmm....... would Fault And Fracture count? They only did one show last year and have only really established themselves recently?

  5. Thank you very much. 7/10 is an awesome score. When we recorded the Album it was all live recordings so editing stuff down would have been hard. But we totally understand what you're saying about the repetitive nature of the songs. Believe me it is something we are working on. How to still keep the music progressive with build up without boring people to death with its repetitiveness. I'm sure a lot of post-rock bands have this problem.

Keep the constructive criticism coming it much valued. We're gonna start recording again within the next few months so its good to hear what you think we can improve on.
