  1. The seagull song is the best song EVER written..... there has been NOTHING like it ever.

Jim/Mike/Ian - these people are in the know

    100% truth.

    I played in three bands:

    Contra (bass)

Gerold, Ross & myself formed this trio while at Aberdeen uni. Had some amazing shows. My personal favorite was probably the first Fishstock at Lava/Kef. The Lemon Tree gig with Aereogramme was pretty good too. 'Explosive' remains my favorite recorded output and I'm glad to hear they're still going strong.

    We Become Less (bass/vox)

James Johnson is an incredibly talented songwriter. Playing in a band with him just felt right - I've yet to experience the same kind of kinship with another musician. I always felt as though WBL could've gone further than we did if only we'd been a little more focused. I think my favorite show was a Fudgenight at Moshulu with My Minds Weapon and Eric Euan - we played well and impressed ourselves that night.

    Today We Fight! (guitar)

By far the most care-free and downright fun band I was lucky enough to be a part of. We started off pretty shakey but once James joined on bass, everything really fell into place. We were fortunate enough to have one of the best drummers in the land - Neil Warrack - which more than made up for my shoddy guitar playing. By the time we ended, we'd toured the UK twice, put out a 7" record and played with tons of quality bands. Our last Edinburgh gig will be forever imprinted on my mind.

  2. NFG for the obvious hardcore influence

    Dillinger Four

    Movielife

Crime In Stereo (though that's kind of pushing the boundaries of "Pop-Punk")

    NOFX

    Descendents

    Millencolin

There's also a bunch of bands such as Dag Nasty, Pennywise & Lifetime hat walk a very thin line between pop-punk & melodic hardcore.

  3. I saw a lot of bands in Aberdeen and it's hard to say who the 'best' was. Plus, I'm so out of touch with what's going on over there that I haven't heard or seen a lot of the groups that seem to be making waves in the city right now.

I must say though, I really enjoyed Eric Euan, Genevieve, Alyssa's Wish, Subsistence & Small Enclosed Area.

  4. This whole thing is hilarious. I've never been treated as poorly by any company I worked for than I was at Fopp. I remember being told on payday one December that I would not be getting paid til after Christmas. For the follwing 4 months I was left in doubt as to whether I had a job or not - everyday could have been my last day. For 6 months following that, I was reduced to part-time hours and told that I may not get a full time job again. This is all before our heating broke and we were forced to work in sub-zero temperatures for the following winter.

Fuck Fopp, I'm glad it's dead. I just feel so bad for the employees

  5. I'll be kicking about, though I dont know if you know who I am or not. I definatly know you. :)

    I know you Tom.

I'm only around for a few days. If I get a chance to come up, I'll certainly do my best! If not, you should all come & party in edinburgh...

  6. I really enjoyed it and so did the wife to my utter surprise....I kindda tricked into it.

I must go and see it again though...i'm sure I missed lots, as you do with a Scorsese movie.

Yeah I thought it was better the second time around as I wasn't as surprised by it's length.

    "No tickie, no laundry"
