Woodend Barn
Breabach - Woodend Barn - Banchory - 22/05/2010 8pmOne of the most inventive and diverse bands to emerge from the Scottish folk scene in recent years, Breabach take to the stage on Saturday 22 May at 8pm. Their collective charm and talents never fail to impress. Ewan Roberston and Patsy Reid share the vocal duties whilst multi-instrumentalists Calum MacCrimmon and Donal Brown alternate between pipes, flute, whistle, bouzouki and step-dance with musical gems unleashed like musical artillery to breathtaking effect. Inverurie born double bassist James Lindsay has also recently been added to the line-up, contributing towards a punch-packing, yet impeccably tight, overall sound.Having kicked off 2009 in style at Glagsows Celtic Connections, Breabach undertook a nationwide tour last spring, followed by the recording of their hotly anticipated second album, The Desperate Battle of the Birds. The album was released at Celtic Connections 2010, when James joined the line-up, and was followed immediately by a Scottish tour with Canadian group Le Vent du Nord.'A young group performing with technical assurance and a feel for traditional idioms Their raucous, driving attack is energised and exciting!'
