If it's authentic honky tonk country you want...

Corb Lund and the Hurtin' Albertans

Sunday 26th March

The Lemon Tree

Tickets 12 (8 concessions & Regulars)

Doors Open: 7.30pm

Show Starts: 8pm

While most country acts wouldn't know a horse from a hearse, Alberta's Corb Lund comes from four generations of Canadian ranchers, and is a former rodeo rider. That authenticity oozes through his songs of cowboys, drinking, gambling, trucks and oilrigs both in the way they're written and how they're played by his brilliant band in classic boom-chikka-boom style. Despite the traditional surface sound, Lund's superbly crafted lyrics reflect the contrasting elements of his life experience, blending a Western upbringing with a decade on the indie rock scene with his previous group, the smalls.

'A delight in the vein of the best honky-tonk recordings of Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, and Jerry Jeff Walker but also influenced by the story-telling style of Marty Robbins, Ian Tyson, and Johnny Cash' Billboard
