    1 x Harley Benton 20G Amp - £20

  2. Okay - HH, you accuse this site of not helping the scene, and then state that the bands listed on the site aren't representative of the scene. Yet, you haven't told us what band you're in, let alone advertised it on this site and you claim to be putting on gigs to 30 kids or whatever but I haven't seen you on this site advertising those gigs.

Now, I know from experience that it's difficult to advertise widely enough and that if you were to only advertise on this site your gigs would be very quiet, but you surely can't criticise this site (which, don't forget is a discussion forum) when you don't actively use it yourself.

You're right I have never used this to advertise my gigs or band. I generally have posters in Captain Toms and venues, along with facebook events as most people are using this day.

  3. My post wasn't intended to instigate some sort of bragging, but alright. Well in. Jaunting around Englandshire and the mainland, you must have knocked together a fairly decent network of contacts of people who play in bands and put on shows, from the bands you've shared a stage with and those who've let you sleep on their floors and sofas. Have you ever considered using these relationships to the advantage of yourself and the 'scene' by bringing touring bands up here to play gigs, or arranging gig swaps between your band and their band?

You seem quite eager to slope your own shoulders and pinpoint the blame on bands and even this website, but what is it that you're doing exactly to allow the scene to continue thriving? That's not a dig. It's a genuine question.

I wasn't bragging just clearing up something, it seemed like you were stating that I/my band may just be a local band looking for our city to make us feel great.

Yeah I have had bands from all over europe up in aberdeen to play shows, the ones years ago were awesome. Over the last 2 years I have been running shows and losing money, but I still keep running shows. I want the 30 kids who turn up to see great bands, and not let it all die off!!

  4. Apologies about the guess who, wasn't meant to be like that.

Their were some good points, I do feel that some people as music lovers are guilty of neglecting their local music scene.

True that, bands could do more to fill gigs and also promoters are most likely satuarting the scene now, unlike old days.

  5. My skills of deduction went like this:

Hockey, hmm...I know Leckie plays hockey, but it doesn't seem like it's him...

*open -HH-'s 'profile page' on ab-music*

Hmm...friends with Tooms and Dan G. Definitely must be in that group of mates...

    *checks birthday on ab-music*

Right, so a couple of years younger than me...who back in the day was around, younger than me and in Leckie's peer group?

*to Leckie's FB profile to scout about*

    *match birthday with FB birthday*

    AND THE REST IS HISTORY

    very clever, however...

  6. Me too, kind of. Although that was merely a clue that was part of the jigsaw. Thanks, Facebook.

The grammar kind of helped also...clearly there are some things that never do change.:up:

FWIW - it's not the first guy I thought of when hockey was brought up...

Hahaha too clever Adam, and yes my english is still fucking terrible.

  7. Grader - Love some of their stuff, some of it notsomuch

Dweller - Love em. Fuckin' Love em.

Autumn In Disguise - A bit of a take-or-leave affair IMHO. Some of their early stuff was pretty cool but also rather grated on me at times. The new stuff just sounds like would-be Katy Perry songs with a very girly guy doing the vox. It's pop music for people who don't want to like pop music.

Shiner - Heard the name, never followed them though.

Prelude To The Hunt - See Shiner. Heard a few of their tunes though and quite liked them, just never really followed them.

Hounds - Absolutely no idea who they are.

    xx

I would class all those bands as being active bands and some have been for 3 years now, yet a handfull of people on here will know of them. Looking at the fudge awards, none of the above have been considered, so is it peoples failure to keep up with the times that has caused the decay?

    Teabags, hockey on saturday? ;)

  8. If it was I would be saying who I am and so on.

I have no interest is saying I am such and such, I played with such and such.

My point is purely this scene is not what it was, and their are numerous factors involved.

I just wanted to know what peoples opinions on what happened was, turned into abit of me v the world haha

Stroopy just out of interest, what are your thoughts on bands:

    Grader

    Dweller

    Autumn In Disguise

    Shiner

    Prelude To The Hunt

    Hounds

  9. No, I don't. Who are you? Why should I care? What fucking difference does it make to this discussion?

You're upset that your band don't have anyone coming to your shows? Maybe your band are just shit and now that your mates won't come along purely because their your mates you're stroppy because your gigs are empty?

What a contradictory statement to make... they are all assholes because no-one wants to make friends with you? And as for the "looking for fights" thing - that's what drunk kids do!

    xx

Doesn't matter who I am you're right..However i haven't said what you should do or pressumed who you are. The reason for that being I don't know you. This place was and still is full of people shouting their mouth of about people and things they no nothing about.

My band may well be shit, I don't play music for anyone else. I play music that I want to, and write the music I believe is good.

Korova is generally full of assholes who think their some rock god, and walk about like.."Do you not, know who I am??"

Im here for good times and laughs, not to blow sunshine up some guys ass and polish his knob.

  10. A music scene is a city full of venues where you can go and see a band of any genre you fancy on a regular basis if you're so inclined. There's a really active metal/hardcore scene up here and a pretty good indie scene. There's a fairly strong but rapidly dwindling pop/punk scene as the pop-punk kids are growing into hardcore kids. A music scene is NOT a party at a band's house after the gig for everyone who attended because they all went to school together.

New Noise/Korova is where all that shit happens now. Nothing has changed, you're just not a part of it any more and in 10 years time the current clique of bands will be the 'old boys' talking of how their scene died a death when the next wave of kids pick up guitars.

    xx

You don't know who I am, do you?

You have no idea of how involved I am, yet you have made statements that I can tell you are b*******

Firstly our metal/hardcore scene is terrible, I'm part of it. I play to 50 kids, I watch shows where their is 20 of us.

Korova is terrible, it is nothing like Moshulu and never will be. It's full of assholes, and people looking fights and no one knows anyone, and has no intentions of meeting new people.

  11. But do you know that or are you just presuming so?

Im aware that their are obviously younger kids in bands, however where are they?

They don't get gigs, cause they probably don't have the newtwork we all had when we were younger.

They also don't come along to shows, so no idea what their doing.

  12. Local Band Forums, nothing against the bands featured.

However, their are far more bands in Aberdeen doing their thing and nowhere to be seen on here.

Also, when I was younger Saturday morning was:

Bus into town with guitar on back, hanging on belmont st and top of st nicholas. Buying music from One Up, heading up to Toms for a jam then back into town.Home to drop of gear and then back into ton for the gig.

Their is no younger generation like that in Aberdeen!!!. I blame Justin Bieber!
