  1. The Scottish New Music Awards have teamed up with several companies including Marshall Amplification, Music Man Basses, Vintage Guitars and several more each donating a prize for the winner of several of the music awards.

    In order to be eligible to win one of these awesome prizes, each band or act needs to get their information to the offices of The Scottish New Music Awards by July 31st.

    Individuals or groups are encouraged to make nomination submissions on behalf of themselves in the following categories:

    MUSIC AWARDS

    1. Artist of the Year

    2. Group of the Year

    3. Jazz/Blues Recording of the Year

    4. Alternative/Indie Recording of the Year

    5. Folk/Traditional Recording of the Year

    6. Cover/Function Band of the Year

    7. Rock Recording of the Year

    8. Loud/Metal Recording of the Year

    9. Punk Recording of the Year

    10. Urban Recording of the Year

    11. Record of the Year

    The Nominee must have been born in SCOTLAND, lived in SCOTLAND for a period of at least two consecutive years in his/her lifetime or have lived in SCOTLAND for a period of at least six consecutive months within the past five years.

    For bands/groups, at least 50% of members must comply with the above Residency Requirements. Proof of the above requirements may be required.

    The nominee must have released a Recording (CD, Cassette, LP) to radio or retail or online or through a record release party between July 31, 2009 and June 30, 2011.

    VERY LIMITED TICKETS are available to the public through Tickets Scotland (Tickets Scotland) and for more information please check scottish music awards, set up to recognise the music scene in Scotland.

  3. If you are in a band that has released a CD in the past 18 months you are elidgeable to win an award at the Scottish New Music Awards being held September 4th at the Classic Grand in Glasgow.

    There are only 3 weeks left to get your nominations in for the industry awards.

    INDUSTRY Awards

    The Scottish Music Awards are for you, the industry that makes it happen. We will not be picking our friends to be the recipients of the awards, nor will we select candidates at random, therefore we would appreciate it if you could please give us as many possible nominees for the Industry Awards. When selecting your nominees, please keep in mind certain criteria:

    1. Why are you nominating them?

    2. For certain nominations, such as Radio Station, Radio Show, Live Club, Booking Agent etc., how much of their business or content is Scottish or Scottish related.

    3. For nominations such as Rehearsal or Recording Studio etc., what are the actual facilities like? Is there ample parking, are the owners and employees good to work with etc.

    4. Please bear in mind that the nominees will not know who nominated them, but we will be in touch with the five top nominations.

    We will be collecting this data, and choosing the most common 5 submissions, to be the nominees for that category.

  6. Not only are we now accepting submissions for Music Awards, but you can contact us at info@scotmusicawards.co.uk and let us know your suggestions for the Industry Awards.

    Right now, we are excusing the 5 submission fee, all you have to do is go to the site and download the submission form and get your stuff to us. If we don't know about you there is no way you will get an award!

    Our Judging panel consists of Radio Personalities, Studio Owners, and members of bands such as The Sensational Alex Harvey Band, Hipsway, Nazareth and many more.

    Also on the newsfront, we will be recording our first (of many we hope) 1 hour radio show to be going out on Community Radio Stations across Scotland, so if anyone has any music they would like to get aired, please mail us a copy.

    Plans are now underway for the The Scottish Music Awards to be held on Sunday, September 4th 2011 at the Glasgow Barrowland Ballroom.

    The Scottish Music Awards is bringing some of Scotlands finest musical talent together with media and industry professionals from across the UK. Our goal is to produce a culturally significant musical event of the highest possible quality.

    The Scottish Music Awards purpose is to present a professional event to honour the music made in Scotland and recognise the artists and the industry who make it happen.

    Beyond entertaining, The Scottish Music Awards strives to educate attendees on an important part of Scottish culture. There is NO OTHER event like The Scottish Music Awards. There is no political motivation nor corporate pressure behind this event, The Scottish Music Awards is for music lovers by music lovers.

    Our motto is Forging an identity for the Scottish Music Industry, if this motto strikes a chord with you, I urge you to get in touch, and get involved. We will be looking for, not only sponsors, but Scottish Talent to get involved with hosting awards, being on nomination panels, and judging the competition.
