  1. I still love my Blackstar HT Dual, though it needs serviced I reckon.  Also, have the joyo vintage overdrive (tubescreamer imitation), the russian black big muff (never knew there was other russian ones), Boss DS 2.  The trouble I have is though, that whatever combination I use alongside my other pedals the sound is always too distorted and indistinct.  Grr.  Need to work on that.....

Also, amp gain is a good thing, depending on the amp I suppose, I like both channels on my egnater tweaker 40 combo with the joyo set at low gain to give each channel a kick.

Distortion is the daddy tho, no doubt.

  2. 100 Watt solid state,

3 channels clean, crunch and lead. The clean and crunch sounds are particularly good.

    built in tuner,

built in effects including phaser, flanger, chorus, delay etc.

it also has 6 sort of pre-amp settings that allow the sound to be tweaked further. they include a scooped sound and also one called 'scwawk' which is especially good though I can't spell it correctly.

    four button footswitch included.

It's been gigged a few times but mainly it's just had home use. It's about 3 years old or so. It's never been past volume level 3 on clean channel. It's affa loud but sounds great at lover vols too.

selling to help fund valve amp purchase.

    £180

  3. Boss BR 900 CD for Sale

    Hey Up.

I bought this a year ago and have used it twice. I am such a luddite that this basically amounted to plugging it in and recording a few riffs etc. As it hasn't been well enough used I am selling it. Also, as anything I record would almost inevitably have background noise added to it from sources including kids, a cat, dishwashers, neighbours bickering and dogs barking and such like I feel I am never gonna get into it.

Comes in original box with PSU and manual.

    £180.

  4. We need a new lead guitar player....

We are a rock band, I suppose in the alt/grunge like category and have been a 4 piece for around a year. Prior to that we recorded some tunes and gigged when were a 3 piece. You can hear these recordings on our myspace and facebook. We need a lead player to add to theses older songs, work on newer songs and record some new songs too, we have stacks of ideas!!. We have a share of a practice space so we're sorted there!

We are mostly in our early 30's and enjoy the band as a hobby but also take it seriously as well.

We are gonna continuing to gig as a 3 piece until we find a replacement lead player. Next gig Nov 11 at Moorings.

Contact us thru here, facebook or discodaviddallas@yahoo.co.uk

    Cheers.

  5. Looking for a band to play live and record with. Have lots of gigging, writing and recording experience. Played numerous gigs in a variety of places.

Was in a band for around 7 years with some moderate success and starting to miss playing live.

Influences are very wide, including classic rock, foo fighters, biffy clyro, some heavy rock right through to indy.

Probably a bit of a long shot as every man and his dawg plays the g-tar it seems, but if theres any bands out there in need give me a shout.

Hey there, The Scandal Extracts are looking for a new lead guitarist. Hve a listen on myspace or facebook and contact us if interested

. I'm away to put an ad on here shortly as well. The tunes on there are three piece tunes so there's a blank(ish) canvas for more guitar parts, though we have been a 4 piece for almost a year more recently. Cheers, Dallas.

  6. I reckon they're pretty enough and as far as I know, and as far as the reviews lead me to believe you are right to say they do it all. Not clapped eyes on the tweaker 40 in the flesh yet. Some decent reviews on youtube although ultimatley youtube gear reviews are always so cheesy. makes me hope I don't talk like those guys about guitar gear, though I know vitually hee haw about tone and how to get it so I almost certainly don't....

  7. Hey,

I need to hire a good PA, ideally including monitors for the 6th of August. Need to be able to run 3 x vocals, keyboard and to run an acoustic amp into it to (how do u do that anyway - it has a DI output).

Any offers of a free loan or advice on where to hire one from gladly recieved.

    Cheers.

  8. Nirvana are the reason I play in bands. Sounds like a bit of a gay cliche.

Totally agree. Nirvana sounded easy to play, and even for me most of it was. Nirvana is the reason I picked up a guitar aged 16 was Nirvana and to me that's a pretty good reason to play. I like to believe that that really was one of things motivating bands like them who had the anyone can play guitar ethos...

Used to love watching Live tonight sold out and then head upstairs to bash out some similar noise with my brothers!! Good times.

Oh and live at reading DVD says it all. energy, chaos, noise, great songs and the best rock vocal rasp I've ever heard!

    Timeless.

  9. The Scandal Extracts | Free Music, Tour Dates, Photos, Videos

We have played for you a few times Steven and are bang up for it again. the myspace stuff has largely been replaced by newer material in a similar veign and we are now a 4 piece and both older songs and our new stuff is maybe a little more developed due to this. Contact us via PM on here, myspace (which I occasionally check), facebook (David Dallas) or discodaviddallas@yahoo.co.uk

we have our own gear but with 4 kids among band members 'can u play this weekend' type requests can't always be responded to.

We aim to get a fair few gigs this year now we're up and running again.

    Cheers.

  10. Hi Folks,

I really should know my way around cleaning a guitar by now....but I don't.

I've heard of various products to keep the finish looking bonny, the fretboard feeling loved and the electics free from gunk or whatever. But I wonder what people use and would recommend be it branded products (including Mr Sheen) to personal tricks that you emply.

    educate me!

    cheers

  11. Plagiarism. The plagiarism is my favourite part. Haha.

My favourite part is the excitement of taking a new song to practice after working on it at home and showing the band then hearing it the first time with bass drums and lead geetar. often the first bash through it sounds better than the 3rd or 4th if u know what I mean, as the song then gets dissected. I feel that pleasure applies to situations when the band take it where I imagined it going or whether they take it soemwhere I hadn't thought of.

Gigging is the end of an often wonderful process and often a disappointing process but however gigs go, I always want more.

as for bass players. Kitey is intuitively on the money with a bass part.....

we have a new drummer... Ryan Barclay!!

    good thread Iain.
