I wrote a song called 'The ghosts of 2BD' a few years ago (it's on my 'Distant Voices, Distant Songs' set, alongside one or 2 other Belmont St related songs.)
Talking of broadcasting stations, I recently found out that STV have no tapes of the 70s 'Marc Time' show done by Grampian, and that my cassettes of 2 of the shows may be the only evidence left.
I'm interested in hearing or at least reading the lyrics for that. Admittedly I'm hoping for a derogatory mention of pegleg.

Old School House I think it's called now/. The music is anything but.

I don't know my family history, My dad never found out who my real mum was.

I was also told that plague victims were 'stored' in the rooms under Cafe Drummond.
Aberdeen's first BBC radio station was in Belmont Street, too.
Bubonic Plague was around in the 17th century, Union Street was levelled in the 19th centrury as far as I know. I'm not sure the non-modern history of the Belmont Street buildings other than No 17.
Back in the days of steam radio, the station 2BD was at 17 Belmont Street, where One Up and the ethnic cafe are now. There's an article on the Leopard magazine website about the BBC history. There are several articles and advertisement in old Leopard magazines about the BBC's landlord but you'd need to search the microfiche records, though the records may be computerised now.

I can't think of any bar chains that Belhaven own. I always thought of them as more of an old mannies' brand and I'm just wondering what sort of demographic they are targetting.
There are loads of food pubs/bars in Aberdeen now and clubs for that matter. How can they all stay in business?

Noticed last night it was 'closed for reburbishment' but saw today on Jobsite Belhaven are looking a for a completely new staff for an " exciting new pub development".
Was the Wild Boar just not making enough for M&B.
Belhaven are opening a foodie pub by the looks of it.

When are the council planning rurning the grass verges and conveniently cleared buildings into a dual carriageway into the city centre?
What is earmarked for closure to make this possible?
Is the Union Terrace projectand this project linked?
The dual carriageway looks like the following route. It's pretty clear when walking it the route is zoned for dual carriageway development, even clearer on Google maps.
St Macha Drive roundabout> Great Northern Road ,> Kittybrewster Square > Berryden Road>Caroline Place > Skene Square>Woolmanhill Hospital Spa Street Roundabout?

I need some suits altered and some repairs made.
Can anyone recommed a British Tailor in town.

I sent in ten puns to their headline pun competitition thinking I'd at least win with one of them but no pun in ten did.

Lidl's is also quite expensive. Far cheaper to shop in th 'British' supermarkets.
mysupermarket.co.uk has price comparisons for the big chains.

I think Tesco's and Asda are the safe places to go, Morrisons is very safe food as well (Safe as in term of freshness), but maybe not as many cheap offers.
So's Lows in Union Street. Well safe, particularly their tinned Argentinian corned beef: -p
Can anyone reccomend a good tailor?

I took in a few suits for repair to the place on Rose Street and chose the one week turnaround option rather than next day. The work was good quality and price was reasonable so I put a pile of shirts, trousers, jackets and even a set of coveralls and clothes for gardening in for repair and/or alteration.
I think it was less than 50 for the lot but worthwhile to render all the clothes useable again.
