Scotsman.com today published a list of the ten best Scottish bands of the Noughties. It's caused a bit of a stir on Twitter already, so be good to hear what people think.
Reader nominations will be added to a public vote for the overall people's favourite.

Just to let you know that another Aberdeen band is featured on The Scotsman's Under the Radar blog today.

That picture of Barn Owl, is not a picture of Barn Owl.
Oh yeah, that must be the American Barn Owl. Fixing it now.

Yeah I heard the French Quarter split too. That's a bit puzzling.
If anyone's interested I made a (very) rough guide to the T Break bands here: Scotsman.com - Scottish news, sport & business headlines direct from Scotland

Under the Radar
Shameless plug but...
We've just started a blog about up and coming Scottish music on Scotsman.com - at http://www.scotsman.com/undertheradarblog
We're not up there with Pitchfork (yet) but we have some really great bloggers who are committed to hunting out the best new bands.
It's early days so any tips/suggestions are very welcome.
Cheers,
Nick

Calling Aberdeen bands and promoters...
I have started a blog for Scotsman.com called Under the Radar - http://www.scotsman.com/undertheradarblog
One feature we've just launched is a collaborative Scottish gig calendar (http://www.scotsman.com/CustomPages/CustomPage.aspx?PageID=78325).
It just runs through Google Calendar, so if you'd like to add events to it, just contact me at nmitchell@scotsman.com with your email address and I'll invite you.
At the moment it's just central belt gigs so we need to spread north!
Cheers,
Nick
scottish unsigned band prize
in News & Announcements

The Scotsman's Radar music site has launched a new prize/competition for unsigned bands and artists in Scotland.
The winner gets a recording session at Chem 19, a gig slot, photo shoot and more.
Of course, the whole idea of music as a competition isn't ideal, but it's another way of seeking out and championing undiscovered acts.
