  1. Is it just me or has anyone else had an intense beamer of a smile on there face ahh day from this gig? I've just been in a total state of chuffedness all day!

I still canna believe I've seen Neil - it was all like a dream - I was so wound up afore he came on thought i wid pass oot! Bloody amazin - hope he comes back next year.

  2. 70's was my era, it was a time when you didnt have to conform to a stereotype (although many did) Listening of choice for me was Stones, Hendrix, Humble Pie, Cream, Deep Purple...etc etc I grew my hair and wore Levis and baseball boots.... but on a Saturday night on went the tweed suit a shirt and tie and I would beat a path to the Palace ballroom and dance the night away to Freeda Payne, the Four Tops, Elvis and the fabulous Palace Band.... happy happy days...

Every era brings up a Gem or three....you just need to look under the rather ugly and slime covered surface...

    G...

My friend and I used to frequent the Venue every friday night to see the bands- we'd spend ages trying to spike our dyed hair and dress as freaky as we could (but we never looked ugly!) On a sunday we'd go listening to the auld mannies playing Jazz in the Gloucester Hotel- happy days

  3. That's why the 50s were cool! They also managed to avoid Girls Aloud and all the Pop Idol folks.

Having lived in all of those decades, I'd go for the 60s, although my 70s listening was pretty damn good....it missed out a lot of crap and zoned into Ivor Cutler, Nick Drake, Kevin Coyne, Tim Buckley etc, then was more than happy when punk came along.

    Not much after then though

    *preparing for abuse smiley*

good music and crap music in all decades- i just seem to remember all the good stuff i listened to

  4. eh? The Eagles havent contributed anything of any worth to the world of music in decades. I cant see why anyone would complain about the price of Neil Young tickets when he is still constantly producing fantastic albums (Chrome Dreams II and Living With War were both great). I have never looked forward to a gig as much as this.

Crosby, Stills & Nash are playing Edinburgh Castle a couple of weeks after I hear. Worth the trip I reckon...

I totally agree with you- the cost of the tickets for Neil Young is well worth it - I would have paid a lot more and to think I will only have to travel 30 mile to see him is beyond belief. Cant wait cant wait cant wait!!!!

  5. I'm assuming that's a joke - if not, don't bother investigating. I always think of them as one of thoses bands that lazy listeners like - you know, the ones who like to have something easy and none offensive going on in the background....The Eagles are kind of like the music equivalent of Mellow Birds coffee.....

yes of course I was joking

  6. My parents bought some and they are really looking forward to it. I'm deciding if I want to go or not but it's sure to be an amazing night. Does anyone know who is supporting and why he's playing Aberdeen? Is it a warm up to a festival etc?

Apologies if this has already been answered.

I believe Neil is closing the Isle of Wight festival on 14th June, then Nottingham 23 June, Aberdeen 24th but he is also at the Primavera Festival Barcelona in May

  7. My ticket is booked, wouldn't miss it regardless of the venue. As with Bob Dylan at the AECC, how many chances will you have to see a true legend in your near vicinity?

How the fuck did The Eagles end up in a Neil Young thread? That's like mentioning Kate Nash in a Patti Smith thread.

I fucking detest The Eagles...tepid pish that deserved to remain in the 70's. The only good thing to come from The Eagles was the Spanish version of 'Hotel California' that cropped up in The Big Lebowski but even that was more because of the dual amusement factor of John Turturro in a purple jumpsuit.

    who are the Eagles?

  8. neil at the aecc

well I am amazed he is coming to Aberdeen - maybe wants to see where Trump is planning his golf course. I dont care coz Ive got my ticket ordered and am over the moon about it. Its a chance in a lifetime to hear the legend. Dont know if warm up for festival but he might do Ireland again.
