YOUR SOUND @ KING TUTS
KING TUTS UNSIGNED NETWORK
PLAYING THE BEST OF YOUR MUSIC
King Tuts Wah Wah Hut are launching Your Sound, which is dedicated to unsigned Scottish artists, bands and DJs of all musical genres, allowing them to establish and develop a fan base, and gain exposure within the music industry by having their recorded material played at Scotlands favourite live venue.
Artists will submit their music, and then King Tuts and DF Concerts promoter staff will select tracks to form the soundtrack for the monthly Your Sound event. Your Sound will take place on the first Sunday of every month from 4pm 8pm downstairs in King Tuts Bar, and special guest DJs will also play a selection of their own favourite tunes.
Each month, a Your Sound artist of the month will be chosen, earning themselves a dedicated page on the Your Sound website, a feature on www.gigsinscotland.com and www.kingtuts.co.uk, their material played at gigs taking place in the venue and their CD added to the legendary King Tuts jukebox! As if this wasnt enough, each artist of the month will play live at the Your Sound end of year showcase at King Tuts Wah Wah Hut, and will be included on a Best of Your Sound yearly CD, which we will distribute to our selected worldwide music industry contacts.
Finally, a prominent winners shrine will allow the artist of the month to promote new material, artist information and forthcoming gigs - all to be seen by the eclectic gig-going population that frequent King Tuts on a daily basis!
King Tuts Wah Wah Hut has twice been voted Radio 1s best launch pad venue, best UK venue and has hosted the first ever Scottish performances from Radiohead, The Strokes, Kasabian and Bloc Party. It is also renowned as being the place where Oasis was discovered in the 90s. A gig in King Tuts can be the pivotal point in a bands career and Your Sound will open up this opportunity to many more musicians on the Scottish music circuit.
Says Dave McGeachan, promoter at DF Concerts: Weve always had a wealth of unsigned talent performing at King Tuts that weve supported throughout the years. With the standard of Scottish bands at an all time high weve been trying to think of new ways to give bands more opportunities".
The first Sunday of the month will be a chance for music lovers to come and discover their favourite new band, for musicians to share their music, to network, and to gain more exposure within the music industry.
Artists, bands and DJs should go on to www.kingtuts.co.uk/yoursound to download an application form, and submit this along with 2 copies of their CD, plus their biography and photographs on CD-R, from Monday 3rd October, to:
