Staggering Tokyo jazz sextet Soil and Pimp Sessions peddle an indomitable line in volatile genre-bending, swaggering brass and exhilarating, funk-levitating beats. Their art has subsequently perhaps unsurprisingly secured a fervent champion in global music guru Gilles Peterson.

Comprising Shacho (agitator), Tabu Zombie (trumpet), Motoharu (sax), Josei (piano), Akita Goldman (bass) and Midoryn (drums), Soil and Pimp formed in 2001 and have since captured the hearts of clubbers, gig-goers and jazz fans alike with their vigorous, vivid, vital psalms.

Their recent performance at Cargo, broadcast on Petersons venerated BBC Radio 1 Worldwide show, beheld a chromatic, magnetising barrage of bold, fast, funk and broken jazz that is set to provoke an incendiary welcome when they debut in Scotland at this years Triptych.
