  1. well i distinctly remember the last few I have seen, which struggled to hold any amount of gear

now that our van is dead we may well be on the lookout for hiring in the meantime sooooo....

can the transit splitter vans can hold...

    2 x 4x12 guitar cabs (flightcased)

    8x10 bass cab

    3 guitar heads (Flightcased)

1 rather large bass head (flightcased)

    2 bass guitars (flightcased)

    3 pedal boxes (flightcased)

    3 cable flightcases

    4 guitars (flightcased)

1 full drum kit (padded casing) + stand box (flightcased)

    2 large merch boxes

room for clothes/sleeping gear bags for 5 people

and how much are they per day?

For that level of gear you would require an Iveco Dailly at 80 or a merc splitter at 100 per day

    Cheers

  2. Since i am playing the night Morrings this Saturday with me tribute band Maiden Scotland, I hope you dont mind me giving it my 2 cents.

Punters in general love coming to see a tribute band as its a good night, so its good for punters and venues, who will reap the rewards through healthy bar sales. Somewhere like the Moorings could put on an act every so often or so and still maintain its reputation for original music..the two things are not mutually exclusive as local bands get to support tributes and play to an audience into similiar music who might previously not have bothered to go and see them.

The tribute scene falls down though when some things happen

    1. You get a venue who starts bringing in any crap tribute band every week and people get bored of it.

    2. Some venues dont know how to promote it

    3. Too many crap bands on the scene, especially in england, taking ridiculous fees when they arent actually that good.

You do get the occasional ones who are good at what they do and are not innit just to try and earn some money ;-)

Cheers and hope to see some of you Saturday!!

  3. Hi there

Iron Maiden tribute Maiden Scotland will be back up in Aberdeen at Cafe Drummonds on Saturday 8th July!!

The Lemon Tree gig in march was really enjoyable and a great turnout, looking forward to seeing all you Maidenheads again!!!

Non Maiden heads welcome but please expect plenty of twin guitar harmonies, monster riffing, galloping basslines and plenty of high pitched metal screams!!

    Cheers

  4. Hi,

Im Mark from Maiden tribute Maiden Scotland, ive been reading this thread with abit of interest!!!

Firstly I would like to make it clear that the bands do not have anything to do with the entrance fee..........!!!!!

Tribute bands range in quality from crap to amazing, the crap ones dont tend to be around for long thankfully, I for one spend a long time practising and treat each gig as if its my last!!! It can be a bit difficult when critisicm is recieved but youve got to be prepared to take it!!

I would like to say to the guys in Blackened that the punters pay there money to see bands and they are entitled to there opinion whether it is good or bad, i dont think it does you any good to come across as so defensive, take it on the chin and move on!!

Oh and the sound and facilities in the Lemon Tree are some of the best around and its an absolute pleasure to play there, so I dont really see how you can blame that because you will come across a LOT WORSE!!
