  1. Ey up deen! We're a band from glasgow, we're called el topo...

I'm from aberdeen previously, moved down to glasgow couple years back to do some uni, el topo formed about 8 months ago, we've just recorded a lil EP courtesy of our fine friends at paisley uni, sadly just now only one is up on the old myspaz, more to come soon... vague influences like Acoustic Ladyland, Lightning Bolt, Zappa, King Crimson, just sorta mad psychy rocky stuff, lots of pace, short songs, vocals here and there... have a listen, won't take too long :) myspace.com/eltopothemole

anyway, we're just wantin to get some playin outside of glasgow, mainly cos we're all a bit sick of the city - nothing with the music scene as such, just generally wantin to get some time away. So thought i'd see if me username still worked. I'm Chris, play drums, like skateboarding, ale and smoking...oops... also currently suffering a long term obsession with Tool...Guitarist Paul and Cooper on bass and vocals complete what has proved to be my first and very comfortable power trio.

Cool, right, go check the myspacey, and have a good day.

  2. That Jeff Waters is a shreddy muthafucka. I watched the DVD at Rico's. He's nuts. That type of music definatly puts the dunt in "dunt  dunt dun  dun  dun". the blast beat drummer was smokin too... ...the guy from ??????

well said. blast drummer, Mike Smith, suffocation. Only thing that got, and continues to get me is that joey's songs (minus the glen benton song) arent' all that cool. Shoulda stuck to his fast-as-fook footwork. I like to think i'm as eclectic as they come but i just dont like the track joey wrote with the kinda pop-rock thing goin on.

  3. Bassist from my band lent me this the other day. It's the best idea i've seen for an anniversary yet. It's like when you're a kid and you dream up your fantasy band. Good to see the likes of Mike Smith, Glen benton, Rob Flynn gettin back to the good ol' days. But if i learnt one thing from this album/dvd, it's that Joey Jordison certainly is a tool. He plays on 4 tracks. He wrote a pop-rock tune...nuff said; a kinda murderdolls meets velvet revolver number which is a little bland; a classic slipknot styled track which is awesome (featuring the afore mentioned Glen Benton) and the black ballad...again, nuff said.

    Anyone else heard it/seen it?

    Any other thoughts?

  4. hmm

i can't believe this thread. Really. Dimebag was and is a pioneer in metal. i dont play guitar, but damn i know he's good. He was part of a musical movement that inspiored me to start playing drums. To see someone remind us of the anniversary of his death is cool. But to see people come on here and get offended cos of somethin said bout Lennon, and mouth off at dimebag, it sickens me.

PS. anyone with an avatar of pete doherty must be a twat

    :gringo:

  5. machine

Dave weckl gets my vote. He's got such a fluid style but he's so tight with it. Got a live album of him with his band and it's jst unreal. Close behind is portnoy, cos he's jst fuckin awesome at generally rockin out. Bonham is a legend, his old skool style will never die. My namesake (the guy who's name i pinched for this site) ''?uestlove Ahmir Thomson" is a killer drummer/producer. Recently started listenin to lots of grindcore shit, and i've gotta say, the drummers for bands like that really take drumming to an alienated level. Implosive Disgorgence, song called chapter 1...holy shit - www.hxcmp3.com/bands//index.php

  6. i live in torphins, the sickest thing i've seen was monday at the primary school that the kid attended. fuckin arsehole journalists and general media pigs. i dont think anyone could be more insesnsetive, these kids are so young and to witness a their classmate or whatever suddenyl lose his life must be so so hellish. then to have some greasy fuckwit of a reporter pretend his or her blackend swingin brick of a heart goes out to the kids here in torph. or to have cameras stuffed into their faces.

The staff (including my own momma) had a shit enough time as it was, without the kids gettin upset cos of the media bastards.

such a shame, the guy was a tenth of the way through his life.

    thoughts to the families eh?

  7. ....it's true sitn it....blink 182 are no more. i'm havin a hard time coping. no more boobies, no more teen angst punk rock tunes....NO MORE TRAVIS. man it's gonna be tough without out them.

i want to hear some good thoughts about the late mark tom and travis trio.

NO BLINK BASHING i wont hear a bad word against them.

 beacause i did fall in love with a girl at a rock show. she did saw what and i said i didnt know. she IS so cool and i tried to sneak in through her window....(enter restraining order)...

  8. ...uh...

yeh ok ok. but man, you need to stop bein so condescending. and easy on the ''quote'' bit. jst look tacky and nerdy.

where i come from (26 miles east of the moorings), the only cover bands were covering metallica, pantera, RATM and if you wre lucky, the occasional darkness or chillis number.) i guess this pub jukebox idea is new to me.

but yeh, think this argument was a little petty. sorry man

    peace

  9. look man,

Problem is' date=' once you have sold yourself to the devil and accept wadges of cash for playing covers to fat old Bailys swilling grannies in some shithole pub, its hard going back to the art....eg 20 for playing to 9 uninterested punters, that includes the bar staff!![/quote']

look man, i didnt ask for your opinion about how i'm sellin out, or how its unoriginal. you need to get out more man, stop replying to threads with pointless shit. and enough with this whole ''return to the art''. i doubt you are or ever will be some sort guru to me or any other musician.

ps, what the hell kinda pubs do you drink at?

  10. pfft

What a totally unique and original idea........ o_O

hmm hmm hmm, true but that doesnt make it less fun. and if its good and we give it hell then i reckon it;s worth it. i jst fancy a mess about, and if we get paid for it, so be it...

  11. anyone wanna get a cheesy pub-jukebox band together? you know the shit, dire staits, zeppelin, hendrix, guns and roses, the beatles, everything a pub needs.

i'll be drummin so i guess i'm jst curious so see what the response is and if anyone wants to get somethin goin.

this would technically be a side project for me but i'm not gonna fuckl about jst cos i'm in another band. but this is more of jst a mess about for me.

anyway lookin forward to readin replys.

    peace

  12. boobies
