  1. Oh fucking hell!

    Suits are Emo now?!

Is nothing safe' date=' first i couldn't wear a jumper without being "Emo", now I can't wear my suits!

Are socks the next thing to be "Emo"??[/quote']

The emo kids stole it from us Indie kids! bastards! like our converse (which now are just EVERYWHERE n it annoys me to hell, ill wear mine again when they go back out of fashion. playing count-the-converse can get quite dull when you have hit 50 pairs in an hour.....)

  2. Just a sec. You were' date=' if I remember correctly, one of the first folks to take a swipe at emo.[/quote']

yeh, that's true n i accept that. But as far as I was concerned the topic was over. It was in relation to the comment about the emo in aberdeen n my crit of it where I live. Yeh i guess it's slightly hipocritical.Yeh I mocked it, but i mock most things. I dont get PERSONAL.

it basically turned from a discussion about the scene, to a genre debate to nasty comments between a few people. The post totally degrades as the comments go on. I said I was pulling out of it, it wasnt just a general laugh anymore, it was getting stupid and personal. It has been taken too far.

  3. Well you know now what makes me tick' date=' i hate ignorant people.[/quote']

    rune

    i dont know u

so please dont take this the wrong way

why dont you shut the fuck up and stop provoking people.

If you want to continue your little egocentric fued please do it elsewhere. This post is supposed to be about the local music scene. Not a fucking ego trip for you. Perhaps you'd care to look back to the original post? the ACTUAL point of it?

I've had no sleep, im hungover and listening to your shite is the last thing i wana do.

    in short

    FUCKING DROP IT

  4. *sighs*

i only wanted to know what the music scene is like up in Aberdeen....I wasn't expecting a huge bitchfest. I'll know where to come if I want to spend all my time being closed minded about other people's opinions about music n slag them off. Can't people just agree to disagree? to be terribly cliche

Yes, I admit there are a lot of bands I dont like. But at the same time there will be bands that I like that other people hate. It's to be expected. Instead people take everything personally, they get to emotionally involved in the debate and cant detach themselves. Can't you just accept that you're opinions of music differ? In things like this there are no 'right' or 'wrong' answers. Anyone who states 'you're either with us or against us' immediately gets 'well Im against you' from me. They forget the grey area and are so closeminded that I simply don't want to be one of them. It goes on principle. Why not just let the matter drop. Cos this arguement is getting old and has NOTHING to do with the original posting. I suggest that if you want to continue this slagoff fest that you do it elsewhere on another post.

  5. * reads thread *

... And they say I have no magical powers!?

i regret this post thoroughly.....you were right...i apologise. people are getting way to worked up about this. I gather that this is a longstanding arguement/bitchfest what has been going on for sometime.....again.....sorry....

you must be a prophet or something....magical...

  6. I am guilty of "man"' date=' but it comes from my lack of style and my hip friendz

I also hate when people abbreviate on the internet:

    "i dnt kno"

    "klkl"

    "g2g"

    "u2u"

I end up asking then what the fuck are they saying, because I just don't understand it :moody:

And there is one more: "Deadloss MUTHA FUCKIN Superstar!!!!!!!!"

There is plain just no need for it, and it extremely gets on my teats[/quote']

    what the HELL is 'klkl'??!

  7. i was thinking the smae thing in a way' date=' but dont like starting arguments, but looks like one shalll surely arise now.....[/quote']

what's the point in arguing about it. as far as im concerned. each to their own

I'm withdrawing from the emo discussion, as someone said before. It's totally repetative and people get way to worked up about something which, quite frankly, doesnt really matter.

  8. Ok' date=' do these people talk on the internet in the same way? No. This is because people that say right, and erm and mmm are either not very confident, extremly nervous or they have some form of learning disabillity.

Suffice to say I am one of the worst speakers in the history of worst speakers.[/quote']

no they do it on the internet too. they just use is as a linking word, often when they're talking too quickly and it's like 'no dont talk because I'm sayin this so I'm not giving you the chance to say anything and will use useless words to do this...right...'

if it was a nervous thing I'd be sympathetic.

    but they're just being annoying

  9. I think if people stopped trying to pigeon hole muic and just liked what they liked then people would be a lot more open minded' date=' the problem is with all these genre's is that many people won't listen to stuff that they feel is completely different because of different genre's when in reality they may be quite close to something they like, taking a glance at the CDs I've listened to lately, and its the music not the genre most definitely, so far recently my playlist has consisted of: Joe Walsh, The Eagles, Marillion, Fish, David Devant and his Spirit Wife, Racine, Def Leppard, Metallica, Magnum, Pulp, Genesis, Dido, Tatu, Foo Fighters, Queen, Bowie, Asia, Paul Rodgers, the H Band, Jo McCafferty and the Boomtown Rats, amongst many others.

    cheers

    Stuart[/quote']

i agree with a lot of what you say, i think a varied musical choice is well...almost healthy i guess. you shouldnt not listen to something cos it's the wrong genre for you. no, let me rephrase. you shouldnt judge a piece of music on what it's 'classed' as, and refuse to listen to it simply because you discriminate against that style. genres and music have a lot of grey areas, styles blur into one another, that's how it goes and some of the best bands come from blending those stereotypes and reforming and making it into something new.

like i said, it isnt the music, it's the attitude of those that listen to it. but that applies to lots of groups.

  10. personally' date=' i'm getting bored with the emo kid crying thing. Can anyone actually fully describe what emo is? Isn't all music to some extent emotional? You should just say you don't like whiney rock music. I'm confused because Rights Of Spring are supposedly one of the bands that were first described as emotional harcore...fair enough. Now everyone from Weezer to whatever are emo. I cant make sense of it and as far as I'm concerned emo doesn't exist! There is no emo scene in Aberdeen because I don't think anyone knows what emo sounds like. It seems to be just a fad or an attitude.[/quote']

for me, personally, i have a definition of what emo 'is'

for the music, it tends to be centered around heartbreak and nostalgic memories of how great their relationship was, how it's killing them to be apart etc etc etc. but in a rock genre. I dont agree with all of the stereotyping of emo, some groups i simply dont class emo.

i dont so much have a problem with the music exactly....but the people who are on the emo 'scene'.

Now i dont know what it's like in Abdn. but at least here your stereotypical emo kid:

dyed black hair, often long, with emo fringe (sorry, i can't sufficiently explain how the fringe looks, sorta long and sweeps over one half of the face)

they wear the black band shirts, ie, funeral for a friend.

jeans down their ass with a pyramid belt

random braclets on their arms, often cheap and/or tacky

now they also wear converse and blazers as stolen from the indie scene.

it's not even the way they dress. it crosses over into a lot of genres what they wear, the 'stereptypical' things worn by each 'scene'. I like quite a bit of what they wear.

    not that

not really the music (altho too much gets me depressed)

no it's their ATTITUDE and that's what REALLY gets me

    everyone's against them

and they whine over every petty thing

    constantly

it's almost like the 'mosher' scene we had a while ago

they were so 'different' but by their very trying to be 'different' they were all the same.

against fashion but had fashions themselves

    brands themselves.

    it's their attitude to others.

that's what i dont like. it's like to by 'bi' is cool.

    everone seems to be 'bi'

    it's just a fad

in the same way, loads of emo kids are just following the crowd.

i don't ask you to agree with my views. that's just how it is where i live, i dont even live in scotland so *shrugz* it may be completely different where you live. but that's my definition and some of why i have a disliking for them.

if it makes it any better there's lots of other groups i'm against for their attitudes....

it isn't just discrimination against emo. lots of other groups are guilty of the same things.

i agree, it is a kind of fad and an attitude. but where the music is concerned, yes all music is emotional, but this particular type focuses mainly on break ups, heart aches, screwing up your face in emotional pain and rolling about on the floor. and that's how it's different to others.

  11. Lovely. You continue to impress. If you decide to come up this way' date=' you will be among friends. Oh, I've just invented a joke! Here goes:

    Q. How many emo kids does it take to change a light bulb?

    A. 10. One to change it, and nine to collectively feel betrayed by it![/quote']

    just another service we provide...

    im a nice girl really......

and that joke, has to be spread.

and shall be by me

  12. That was highly enjoyable. They do say that the best stories are the ones that tell you what you already know. Don't worry about offending emo fans' date=' they'll thank you for giving them something to whine about![/quote']

true, and if all else fails, you can always tell them to fuck off and slit their wrists quietly in the corner

only if you're feeling particularly harsh at the time of course...

the average reply to them when they start whining is 'oh go write a fucking song about it'

    such a beautiful response...

  13. I think that I'm going to have to buy you a drink for that post alone. Top stuff' date=' utterly spot on. I'm in a noise/grind band but there's not that many folks into it, so check out The Spike Boys when you toddle on up here.[/quote']

ill hold u to that drink = P

one of the current jokes we have at the moment when taking the piss is

'I'm going to write a song about you!'

    in true emo style

and if i do, ill check it out. not really my usual but for sure i'll try it  havent heard enough really

try every type of music at least once
