  1. But... I wore the hat at the Lemon Tree! He must have been at our gig in Perth and pinched it from my bag The crafty devil... And he's bent the horns too look!! That's it! He's in for a kicking the next time I see him

He's in Metallica. Isn't that punishment enough? ;)

  2. Thanks, everyone!

What was the inspiration? Well, I was just playing around, trying to come up with an atmosphere for a piece... I stepped back and said to myself "Wow...that's how I'd expect the womb of hell to look. So...I decided to finish it off with an empryonic satan growing inside. No...I am by no means a satanist....quite the opposite...heh. I just create what I see as I go along.

  3. Cheers Chris! It's not the fact that I grudge paying for it of course' date=' as it's definitely worth every single cent ;) It's just the fact that the band has no money, so I had to pay for it myself, and basically any money we make for a while is going back to the label for manufacturing costs, so it looks like I'll be owed it for some time yet... and I'm in quite a bad way financially. But I'd do it again in a second, I'd rather have an incredible album cover and be a bit hungry for a while. As long as I can pay my rent it's all good. That's my dedication to metal, that is!

Glad you like the song too, that's got to be a bonus when your artwork is going to be associated with us![/quote']

Oh, I know that you don't begrudge it or anything. It just seemed like you were a little down regarding whether this CD would do well or not...and you know what? Just make sure you don't ever judge your talent, by the number of CD's you sell. There's a band that came out of San Diego here where I live. They were called Aslan, but had to change their name because some band from Europe already had it. They were some of the most talented musicians I've ever heard, and the drummer is a friend of mine. They were about 10 years ahead of their time, playing Prog Metal...so they never got big in the USA. But they didn't let that bother them, cause they knew they had talent. They kept going, and it paid off, beause they got really popular in Europe. The band's name?.... Psychotic Waltz. I'm sure you've heard of them....right?

Anyway, the point is...these guys are hugely talented and nice guys...but never really caught on in the USA. Britney Spears is a no-talent piece of fluff....and she's a multi-million record seller. As long as you're loving the music, and draw a crowd live....keep playing....and the rest of us fans will do everything we can to make sure the word gets out about you! If we have it our way, you'll be huge. :)

  4. Good' date=' well, I'm glad after two days of being up someone has actually noticed it... it cost me (thats ME) a large amount of money which I'm fast losing hope of ever recouping... :( And I'm skint. So it'd better just be the best bloody album cover any Aberdeen band have had ever. Well, actually, it is.[/quote']

Joe...I'll be shocked if it doesn't pay off big time. This is your first album under a contract, and not only will the artwork get noticed, but the music sounds like it is going to impress the hell out of a lot of people. You just might lose money on this one, but I'll bet it's a launching pad to your future. The new song sounds great!

  5. Dude' date=' of course if we ever get decent posters made you'll recieve a complimentary copy :) Not sure how big these posters will be or anything, if they're a decent size we'll send you one of them...[/quote']

    That kicks ass....thanks Joe!

  6. Hadn't realised that Fat Hippy had put the posters up in San Diego yet? ;)

Oh sorry....I was looking at their list of upcoming albums...and they had the artwork on there really small, with the blu logo, rather than red...and no title text.

  7. Aye lad' date=' but it's about 2cm by 2cm on those posters... all you can tell is that it's quite red. You want to see the whole feckin' shabang, it (as they say on t'internet) OWNS!! :headbang:[/quote']

Plus, they have the wrong version of the logo on that one.

  8. Ok....I'm far from being a producer or anything...but I've run sound for bands. One thing I've seen bands do, that is a big mistake, is be afraid to put reverb into the mix. They want their recording to be true to how they really sound....and so the vocals end up sounding thin and dry. They forget that in a big hall, the reverb naturally adds fullness to their voice....and that needs to be added in the studio. Don't be afraid to help out the vocals with a little layering and reverb....it's not an insult to ANY vocalist, to say this...it just makes it sound better.

  9. Heh....that's a bit better. Thanks everyone! Well, I've been "outted"...yep, I'm the artist who did the cover for their upcoming CD. There are still a couple of tweaks to make to it...basically logo adjustments and title text. I'd love to give you a link to my website, but I want to wait until the boys in the band unveil the cover. See, giving you the link to my website, would give away the full artwork...and I'd have to steal the band's thunder on this one. If you don't mind, I'll post a thread with the link to my website soon after the band announces the cover.

    Thanks again everyone!

I agree...I've got artwork made at that exact same size, and I've had them made into fairly large posters at www.cafeexpress.com for a fair price, and they look outstanding!

Correction....any band that can name and album "Pink Bubbles Go Ape" or "Rabbit Don't Come Easy", deserves to die. LOL....I mean....seriously...what the FUCK were they thinking?!

  12. For me it's a tough call between two albums.

    1) Dance Of Death - My favorite Maiden album (was Piece Of Mind before), and it's the only way I'd ever get to hear them play the amazing Face In The Sand, live. To hear this entire album live, would be amazing.

    2) Powerslave - Just bringing back Rime Of THe Ancient Mariner would be enough for me to wet my pants, but the rest of the album, and FINALLY getting to hear Flash Of The Blade live...well...I could die happy. Flash is one of the most criminally underrated Maiden songs ever.
