  1. I have for sale a Marshall 100W Dual Reverb Valve Amp - 2 x 12" Full Range Drivers. The amp comes with footswitch and power supply cable. Valves have been replaced and sound loud!

I am also reluctantly selling my Ibanez S-series Electric Guitar which comes with hard case, hex keys, lockable strap and gutiar stand.

I will sell both for 600 or may sell seperately.

If you are interested, please call 07919325404 or email schristie@avcmedia.com

  2. Hmm lets see' date=' where could you possibly get parts to fix your guitar?

Oh I know! The guitar shops.

    RnB, Bruce Millers, Prosound.[/quote']

how about an economical recommendation wiseass! Besides i had to take my acoustic to bits cos RnB "supposedly" repaired it in the first place, when actually they induced mains hum with dodgy soldering connections.

    Only cost fucking 40 .

maybe you got money to donate to RnB technical training but i dont.

    :moody:

  3. i have recently dismantled my electro acoustic guitar. Wee problem though with the volume and tone controls. I couldnt get the volume and tone knobs off so gave them a wee twist . Think i have broken the transducers inside. Anyone know where i can get replacements and what the correct term for these parts is, if they are actually transducers etc.

    cheers steve

  4. mixers, pas and lights.

Would it not be true in saying that a performance is dependant on the atmosphere and signal quality from instrument to listener.

You guys should maybe have look at A.C Lightings website and also check out D& B speakers (specifially E9's ) and the new midas range of mixing desks (The warehouse in edinburgh could give you details for suppliers.)

They are all affordable for customers and beat half the shit bands have to put up with in venues.

Also Le Maitre effects machines ( haze, smoke, ooooo bubbles!)

    They are all top notch.

the shite ( peavey, celestion, behringer, etc ) that bruce millers and R&B try to flog is not worth the money that most people part with.

You should definetly check out PLASA website.

  5. cables

You guys should make your own guitar leads to order. You can get Neutrik connectors and 100m of shielded top quality instrument cable for well under a hundred quid from Van Damme connections. The BBC use these guys for supplies. They stock absolutely bloody everything and will make to order as well.

    check out their brochure.

  6. bit of both methods

i think if you want a rocking sound. record your kit live.

good hint is double mike your snare drum. over and under. dampen the room as much as possible. duvets, carpets, motherin laws( only if she has big knockers!)

gate each mic input when recording the kit, especially your cymbals and toms as they will pick up spill from the kick and snare btu vice versa.

    7 mics is a safe bet for a standard kit.(kick, snare x 2, hihat,toms, overhead x2)

then transfer each track individually onto your pc. this takes time but its worth it.

use any program you are happy with but a minimum of 16 tracks is good.

ive used seven so there are 9 left.

    i then individually record

rough gtr(guide for bassand rhytm and should be deleted from final mix)

bass, rhythm gtr, lead gtr, vocals( clean no effects), backing vocals( slight reverb) ,keyboards, samples etc etc

i set my levels and add effects then put a 2:1 compression on the whole mix and burn to cd.

no need for the studio if youve got a warm garage. :band:

  7. the signal chain

you could argue till christmas about digital resolution but increasing the sample rate can increase the chance of data errors which results in reverb sounds becoming unsmooth

    (aliasing & quantisation errors).

analogue recording doesnt have this problem as effectively it has an infinite sample rate( the true sound)

increasing the sample rate basically allows more steps to replicate the analogue signal but allows easy data storage. 96khz will use more space than 44.1 or 48khz sampling but you will struggle to hear the difference.

i believe in analogue for recording and digital for processing, that way you can cut out what you want and keep what you like.

  8. define cheap i.e a budget

If you have a PC and a stereo at home you can route it through there. as long as you have speakers rated at above 20 Watts a side then youll get enough volume to play along wuith cds.

If not, then go for a Megaboogie.

they range from 100 quid to 1000 and are a safe bet

  9. was anyone at the gig last nite?

think its fair to say that it was pretty awesome.

keane were really tight and got the crowd going.

i was well impressed that travis played some of the material from their first album good feeling and andys solo on top of his amp stack was like something out of spinal tap.

Fran was also on top form to answer his critics saying that some of their stuff is depressing but thats what they are good at.

i totally agree and those critics need to peace the fuck out!

    a truly enjoable evening!

p.s buy the keane album (out in May), its easy listening and melodically outstanding.

everyone has an opinion dude and no more so than in the music world.

ill laugh it off but you can check out the demo for that particular song at www.linear.2ya.com songs called changeover

maybe the music might help determine the other important elements of the song , like dynamics and stuff.

cheers for the support in truly troubled times.

  12. processors

i think the key to non experimentation with instrumentation lies in lazyness and processors. You can make a guitar sound like a flute, a whistle, etc etc.DSP or digital signal processing allows you to create preset sounds which can imitate those achieved at a much lesser cost EXAMPLE: - altering the parameters of a guitar effects pedal.

In addition, the drums and bass provide a fundamental grounding for adding harmony and melody to.

the drums control the tempo and dynamics, the bass provides a key and rhythm to which the guitar and vocals can be added.

oh and try dividing the profits from a gig between a brass section and woodwind section and a percussion section. nae good a ta

Build you own orchestra on a PC and takeover the world dude

There are no limits to the sounds you can make.

Fruity loops is awesome. Sonic Foundry Acid Pro is cool and the Propellerheads program Reason is loaded with didgeridoos to drainpipes.

oh and that way you get to keep all the profits to yourself

    mmmmmm sound like plan

    :band:

  13. not an amp tech but a geeky & bored

is it repairs you need done or someone to watch your every move at gigs. a multimeter will set you back 20 quid and you can test your amp yourself. alternatively i can pat test it and check that everything is safe and well for a small fee

    :bat:

let me know whatever you decide
