  1. I had the Blue Murder lp and thought it was three quarters really good' date=' I saw Sykes play with Whitesnake in 83, sure you were at that one too Daz, crazy Cozy Powell drum solo if I remember correctly.[/quote']

Yeah i was there, i was 13 at the time, John Sykes was a god, seen him 3 times over the years could have seen him at moshulu. if i had my monopoly cards with me lol.

  2. Fuckin Hell' date=' but Sean Harris isn't in them now, and I'm in Glasgow anyway, bad timing.

Thats bad news for you Daz though, even if you've seen them a few of times. So thats 2 bands playing without their original singers, hmm.[/quote']

Yep bad news about Diamond Head playing, I'm only going to see John Sykes playing guitar anyway, im not worried who sings, only who plays guitar, and i loved him in Blue Murder and his solo Cd's, he is a good singer anyway.

  3. Hey Dazmeister, good to see you hanging in there, I'm actually having a very surprising (to me) 80s metal rebirth, namely listening to

Ratt-Out of the Cellar (much better than I thought it would be, current fave-'Lack of Communication', squueeakk)

    Faster Pussycat-1st album ( I knew I still liked this-eternal fave-'Don't change that song')

Exodus-Bonded by Blood (why more serial killers don't listen to this escapes me. Brutal fave.."This aint about no Goldfish..., an it aint about no Tuna fish.... and it AINT ABOUT NO TROUT..rout..out" -'Piranha'

and of course, as you say, the perennially underrated Diamond Head, fave from the album that killed them the first time-'Knight of the Swords'

As to the matter at hand, No I stand by Rage for Order as their best album, mainly for 'Surgical Strike', which prefigures the whole Mindcrime sound, 'London' and the none more creeptastic, synthy 'Gonna get Close to You'. Mindcrime to my ears now groans beneath the weight of its own conceit, mind you, 'The Needle Lies' still rocks.

Now where did I put that Crimson Glory album?

Hey there my old friend from about nearly 20 years ago, lol, god is it that long!!!! or are we that old.

Well Ratt was always a band i loved, Warren Dermartini guitar playing was so awsome, i played those cd's to death, still playing ratt when i pick up the guitar, Lack of Communication was one of my faves to play and your in love, those riffs gave me the inspiration to keep playing, although im not really playing guitar as much now, should really start jamming again with someone, playing older stuff, guess we both got different music tastes from all our friends, remember going back about at least 16 or 17 years we were both listening to Celtic Frost and Hell Hammer, when you were living with your granparents, think we tried to write a few songs, i remember a few of yours , especialy the drums, lol.

You couldnet get into Slayer though, but we were both Big Venom fans, do you remember going back to the Venue 21 years ago before the Place, banging our heads to Chemical Warefare, drinking snakebite and black, those were the days.

Yeah I still listen to Rage for Order, but i think it was definetly mindcrime that made the big differnce in quality and sound of recording, i guess the image change was better as well, but musically they were the masters of there time, it was really the origanl seattle sound before Nirvana, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains.

MMMMMM, Crimson Glory, they were poor mans Queesryche, pretty sure i still have those two albums.

Whate are you listening to now?

Have you heard of Evidence One and Furyon yet?

Will have to meet up sometime.

    Later

  4. Remember to keep all dogs away from the Music Hall when Queensryche are on as the pitch of Geoff Tates voice may cause them distress; the queen of the REIIIIIIIIIIIICH ( cue glasses breaking etc), try looking up photos from their pseudo glam Rage for Order period. (best album too).

    Hey pierre,

I Didnt know you liked them, lol, (Operation Mindcrime was the best)

You did have bad taste:laughing: , remember Dimond Head. LoL

  11. I don't think you should make it free before 11:30' date=' you could never cover your costs.

I don't think the problem is anything to do with the costs, or the venue - it's just the way things have gone in Aberdeen over the last few years. Interest in clubbing is dwindling and it's harder and harder to generate any interest in anything outside the mainstream. I've been flyering at The Fresher's Fair for a few years now, and the great majority of people coming into Aberdeen are the types that go to Liquid and reckon they've had a great night out. It's lucky to even see somebody you'd want to giver flyer to in the first place :S

On the other side of things, I reckon that most people under 18 realise what a dead end this place is becoming and get the hell out of here as soon as they hit university age.

I'd like to think that this situation will change over time, but it's going to be slow progress - and needs some of the people who sit and moan about there being nothing to do in Aberdeen to stop complaining and start going out more. That's my take on it anyway.[/quote']

I guess you are right about not making it free before 11.30. it's defeating the purpose of making money to pay the staff.

The first night in the pelican i had 40 people staggered over the night and staying for a drink maybe two then leaving, it now gets busy around when the pubs are closing, its pretty hard starting up a new night with a small budget.

Everyone i talk to complains about the other venue and how the music is overplayed, but what can we do about it.

I have been putting out request sheets for a month now, and what people are writing down is not what they are playing in the other venue.

Around 100 people have came along to the nights so far over this past month, would be nice to have them all in one night thou.

  12. Yeah I fancy Reb Beach' date=' Ive seen him twice with Whitesnake. Think he played with Dokken and Alice Cooper too. Your club night sounds good, how much to get in?[/quote']

Do you fancy him with the poodle perm hair in the 80's or his straight hair now?

Reb has also been a session guitar player for Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Roger Daltrey,

Chaka Kahn, Howard Jones, and Twisted Sister.

my night is always different, the night will depend on who comes out so anything could happen.

The door entry is 3 before 12 4 after.

But if i dont get the numbers up i may have to stop this night as well.

Do you you think i should make it free before 11.30pm?

    Daz
