  1. Leith

As one who has lived in leith for 18 years thats quite a fairly average tale, but heres my favorites - strange how they mostly have to do with leith walk....

    1) about 4 years ago the owner of the mermaid chip bar (bottom of leith walk) cut of his penis and deep fat fried it before being arrested and wisked of to some suitable mental assylum (what happened to the fried penis, no one knows - yum)

    2) The Cowboy - a man who always roams the streets of leith walk in full cowboy uniform asking for wiskey and shooting you with his imaginary guns (this may be related to the penis story)

    3) In a slightly grimmer term there was the beheaded man found in the water of leith around 1-2 years ago but he had a penis i think...

    Hope the gig went well!

  2. Because it's possible to listen to music you may not like with an open mind and then comment on honestly.

For example I dont 'like' MMw' date=' but they are a very good band. I dont 'like' the guitarist from WSBB's sound, but he is, in my opinion a very good player!? The vocals are just comical!?

I listen to folk and bollywood, so that makes me a poof, so you should just ignore anything I say!

i get what your saying man, and im not having a go at you, i just think that as constructive critisism goes calling singing a "joke" states that your opinion is bias in the first place. someone who listens to hardcore all day would easily be able to tell his vocal style apart from another voaclist but just branding all vocals under the same banner doesnt help anyone least of all yourself. im not saying dont voice your opinion,

i just believe that theres no higher insult to any band who has worked their ass of to make something they love only to have it knocked down by people who really dont have much to say other than they didnt like it!

    thanks

  3. it's not the kind of thing i'd be rushing out to buy but i enjoyed listening to it. the sound quality is pretty dire as i'd have expected from streamed music but i'd imagine it sounding pretty good live and on a decent recording. again' date=' the screaming isn't to my taste and i'd struggle to listen to a whole album or a whole gig of that but the overall sound has got a lot of power behind it. the bass playing is solid as is the guitar work. i'd bring the snare down in the mix a bit too, but all in all, i enjoyed the listen.

i didnt think there was any bass in that recording, unless you're refering the the bass on the guitar amp.

i thought, although not my personal type of music, the recording was ace considering how long the band have been together and the fact that it's only their first few songs. people need to quit giving bad comments purely on the basis that they don't like screamy vocals as if you don't like it anyway, how can you give a decent and honest critisism?

as for their drummer... considering his age and experience behind a drum kit i think he has more than the ability to outplay any drummer in aberdeen given time... easily

    thanks

  4. Mourning Star

Hey, femo would just like to say we really enjoyed the gig, it wasnt our best performance, but it was really enjoyable!

thanks to dr drakes for giving us the gig!

thanks to mourning star for playing with us - what you play is new and different and it could be something really ace if you guys keep going, hopefully we'll play (and drink some beer)again soon - you guys rock!

lastly big thanks to everyone who turned up to the gig!

see y'all on the 20th for some fudge action!

    femora

    ps weeping jesus fucking rock!!!

  5. Femora

Hey there all, i was reading the post and i think the idea is great and i know for a fact that Femora would be honered to give their time for such a good cause.

I was reading the news report and they're estimating a death toll of at least 100,000 and the tolls already at 80,000.

I don't know about you guys but something has to be done and i for one would have no problem in giving a little time considering what's happening around the world.

I'm sure every band in Aberdeen will give there time no questions asked, so we could have something really special... and for the right reasons.

    Thanks

    Marty

  6. Criticism

To be honest with y'all people not liking our music isn't a big problem to me, seeing as there were 4 different bands with 4 different styles what else would you really expect? you can't please anyone, but it was the moorings bar, which last time i checked wasn't a pop-punk or indie bar, looking to the juke box full of megadeth and slayer. music wise i wouldnt buy anyones stuff but i respect the bands that turned up to play as each had the same problem that we had, getting the people who weren't there to see you on your side. i was well impressed that we had a small crowd at the front of the stage - more moshing next time! - but if every band in aberdeen slagged everyother band for not playing the same music as them (which happens alot as it is) noone will get anywhere!

    oh and risactonia rule!!!

  7. Hey guys, just a quick post to our friends at Element 106 to let them know that Femora are playing a gig at the Moorings on the 20th of November. We totally digged your stuff last time we played with you and seeing as there aren't many (any?) metal bands in Aberdeen we could do with some support especially as it is our first proper gig in 9 months!

Hopefully see you guys on the 20th for some beer and Jagermeister!

    Femora

  8. Thanks

Big thanks to all the support guys, means alot!

As this is a thread for an advert i should say that anyone intersted should pm the band (me, angel_of_death, the_tank, sye) we will audition anyone who asks and is serious!

our new shit absolutely fucking rocks so nows the time!!!

    THE TIME APROACHES

  9. yeah we may have not had any "bad" reviews but if you cant play the music you love for yourself then whats the point?

and any band in aberdeen will tell you, playing music is a love not a job. so to say yet again there was nothing wrong with crocker but he didnt complete us as a band and thats why we let him go. losing a band member makes or breaks the band and i for one have no intensions of becoming an average obscure band, stoner rock or not!

one things for sure the next gig will be a must watch!!!

  10. Big thanks!

Big thanks to the Void, whom, although had a really shitty night in terms of an ill drummer, burst guitar strings and jack leads, still managed to do a really good, mellow and atmospheric gig - they should definately keep the santa blues song!

Also big thanks to the dude who played afterwards, sorry i didn't catch your name! i wasn't too sure about what you were doing at first but it was really funny and i hope to hear ya soon

Biggest thanks to the crowd who put up with a burst guitar string, a jam mid set and a pissed band playing in front of them!

    See yall soon!

  11. Hey guys i was in r+b today trying out wa wa and distortion pedals, and the guy very kindly showed me both guitar and bass ones, quite a few of the guitar ones were better surprsingly

well thats my little nugget of info for you but i'd recommend you spend a wee bit of time trying them all cause its great fun
