Afro Droid
A fine addition to the Wes Anderson cannon. Not as good as The Royal Tenenbaums or Rushmore, but up there Bottle Rocket for sure. Bill Murray is ace, and the underwater, semi-fantasy scenes are awesome.Incidentally, we saw it at the UGC, do people usually walk out of films there? Maybe the neds didn't like the gentle plot or subtle humour....
KarmaTsunami
i saw it at the UGC too....noone walked out then....lovely movie..i agree with the underwater semi-fantasy bits, they were lovely, especially the one that was soundtracked by Sigur Ros! Come to think of it, the whole soundtrack was ace.
Snowball
I work there taking tickets and so forth and people do walk out of films quite a bit. Normally they're older and have been disgusted by the language, but sometimes it is people who just don't get it. Or, "hey, it's a' in forrin, I'm nae readin a' that!" AKMartin
I think instead of an age rating system (PG, 15, 18 etc), they should have an IQ rating system. i.e. "this is the minimum IQ you must possess to get into this film". For example -Son of the Mask - rated 25Memento - rated 100.Any foreign language films at the Belmont - rated 130.Apologies to any idiots offended by this idea.AKM
PrincessHolly
I saw you and Mel last night but I was lost for words at the sight of her pretty shoes and had to rush to the staff room to crack one out.
Floor Tom
I went and saw it for free and the UGC (They were handing out flyers for a free screening when I went to see closer) I thought it was really good, not as good as the royal tenenbaums but that is a fantastic film IMO

TR!ΔNGL€ T€€TH
I'm thinking about going to see it in the Belmont... Incidently, i had a dream about Bill Murray the other night. He was doing some kinda signing in Fopp, and he stood at the door shaking everyone's hand who came in. I can't remember what i had him sign, but i told him my name was Fangita. Alvin Starclusk
I was disappointed to be honest. Not anywhere near as good as Rushmore or Tenenbaums (although better than Bottle Rocket, which is shit). Read the Empire review of it this morning, and it pretty much sums up my problems with it.http://www.empireonline.co.uk/site/incinemas/ReviewInFull.asp?FID=9818"In terms of character and sensibility, though, this is sadly Anderson at his worst." PrincessHolly
Wes Anderson is going to direct The Fantastic Mr Fox which is just about my favourite story ever. There's also a great article on him in this months Tatler.

framheim
i thought it was better than tenenbaums. in fact i thought it was one of the best films i've ever seen. it was magical. it was a fantasy in the best way. and the bit with sigur ros was orgasmic. PrincessHolly
Sounds like it would not be the most painless thing to do. They did rock though so well done for persisting!
