Yeah' date=' Bam Margera is hillarious but put him in a shell-suit and it's a Serious Social Problem .

There seems to be a few people who dislike anyone that conforms to their rigorous middle-class standards on here and terms these people "neds". I'm not entirely free off predujuice by any means and to claim I was would be an out-right lie, but I do try and keep my attitudes in check.

No, the people I have a problem with a arseholes. Violent, loud, selfish arseholes. Like germs, they get everywhere; from pubs to parliament; from park benches to back benches. I've been intimidated by dickheads in the streets before, not so much now as when I used to be younger and more angsty-alternative or whatever, but that was pretty much because, in all honesty I dressed like a bit of a fanny, so I know how much these loud-mouthed oiks can be a problem, but dickheads aren't going to go away. Sadly, luck and some preventive measures are our only real weapons against these clowns (although being hard as all fuckety would help). I used to live my life in fear of some fuckers (partly justified, partly because I'm a pussy) but is it really worth cowering away inside just because of the RISK something bad may happen.

The answer is No, unless you have a really awesome video game to play or something. Maybe a porn film.[/quote']

OOPS! Should really have quoted the post too!

Bravo

I don't know why I read theis whole thread. Just trying to kill time before ER starts i suppose...

I've been intimidated by pikey's on the bus shouting things at me and I've been downright terrified by a couple of drunken scene kids (kids=16 or so) following me down the street. I think it comes down to respect and tolerance. Whether you think that's a cop out or not is your call.

It's not how you dress' date=' it's how you act. Yeah, sometimes you can make a judgement on a person by the clothes they wear, but the hundreds of kids wearing baggies from Elementz are just as faceless as the kids wearing Burberry or whatever. Neither is better than the other, although everyone seems to have a shitload of attitude.

I really don't think anyone on this board who has said they (neds etc) should be shot/are scum etc, has a right to complain about the aggressiveness of Neds. If you're bitchy to them, they'll be bitchy back. Just let it go and move on to a more interesting subject, please?[/quote']

Agreed.

"ned" or "chav" is just a convenient way for the comfortable classes to write off a complex social issue. Do you laugh at homeless people, the disabled, or ethnic minorities? I'm sure at most you just express some kind of politically-correct fake pity towards them, much the same way celebrities announce their donations to charity in order to make themselves look good.

Delinquency, poverty, poor education, and all the consequences of these problems are not something to be ridiculed, if you guys actually gave a fuck about anything other than your own material interests, maybe you would realise that social responsibility extends beyond the payment of taxes and sticking 10p in a charity box.

Poverty doesnt give them the right to act like arrogant pricks.

What are you getting at here - what would you have us do differently roughly?

Even if society was completely equal and everyone had the same opportunities you'd still get people who think nothing of abusing people that they've never met before in the street for looking geeky or not dressed to their own taste or whatever. You'd still get people taht would rather steal or sell drugs than work full-time. The world will always have it's share of arseholes who can't even respect people's basic right to perform simple tasks like go to the shops without being hassled no matter how much social responsibility the majority show.

I agree with this BUT the intimidation and aggression that come from this group of people really is not acceptable I have grown up in the same surcumstances as these people and I don't go around kicking the fuck out of people for no reason - I have to say i feel sorry for them (you can see this in previous posts) but I am scared for the safety of myself and my family and they come before any neds. Alot of the time I am really frighted of them!

and I certainly am not in the comfortable class either!

i have had few ned experiences,

one night when i was about 12 me and my friends had been at the cinema when on the way home we were followed by a group of "neds, chavs, peds, bams", one of them started shouting abuse so i stupidly turned around to see what they were shouting at us for. One of the group came right up to me and claimed that his friend had told him that i had been calling him a dick....hmm now here is the the thing, i had had one never set eyes on this boy before, seen any of his friends, said anything to anyone about them...u get the picture. I exclaimed that i had not said anything and actually apologised to him for him thinking i would say that. he then proceeded to say that i was calling him and his friend a liar and promptly hit me in the face more than three times, leaving me with a bust lip, nose and swollen cheek. His group found this hilarious and i heard one of them shouting down there mobile phone that "baz" was beating the shit out of some "fucking fanny". after some abuse and spitting they walked away leaving me with my own blood.

now i don't know about u but i certainly felt like the victim in that scenario, and i don't give a shit what any of you say, people who hit me or anyone for no reason are ARSEHOLES! i don't care if their bams or priests, it is not on!

the funny thing is you don't know how bad aberdeen is untill u leave, i was in edinburgh recently and was actually surprised to not have abuse thrown at me on a friday night while walking up princess street, this may be because of edinburgh's size and the "rough areas" are further away from the city centre....i don't know. i just wish people like that would go away and not come back.
