Paranoid Android
November 30, 2004 - Alright, we finally scooped out some concrete details on Frances the Mute, set to be released march 22:All the players are the same as have toured for a year now. However, the album will also include a great number of guest performers, including Larry Harlow as previously reported. It was produced by Omar, mixed by Rich Costey, and recorded in Australia, Los Angeles, Puerto Rico and New York.Storm Thorgerson is doing the artwork again, and the lyrics will be included in the package this time. The songs are both in english and spanish. The Widow will be the single, and it will have a video. A very early version of The Widow was played at the Wiltern shows. The 77 minutes of music will be seamless all the way through. The tracklist looks like this:FRANCES THE MUTE:CYGNUS....VISMUND CYGNUSA. SARCOPHAGIB. UMBILICAL SYLLABLESC. FACILIS DESCENUS AVERNID. Graham
I like long songs so I don't mind! Although they might split the different movements into different tracks or something. I'd actually forgotten about the Mars Volta. I think I'll have a listen to their album again sometime soon.
lepeep
sounds like they've taken that special "anus submarine", and gone right up their own arse...should be interesting...

Acey Trixx
never really been able to get into the volta..think it was always a bit self indulgent for my liking
Larsen B
I can't wait. Should be less polished production wise without Rubin and it the first time they've recorded with their permanent line-up. I'm going to the barras show. Anyone else? Guest stuartmaxwell
i have a copy of the album on soulseek its pretty coolno too far away from drunkenship of lanterns and the experimental stuff they have doneits a bit more self indulgent than de-loused, actually gets a bit boring for a while
Guest Keira
Pretty cool??? It's ace!!I love the song "L'Via L'Viaquez" so much. It's just so... phwoar. It makes me want to learn Spanish..Although I do agree with the.. "gets boring after a while" bit, as.. it's true. Mainly at the start and ends of the songs.. But that aside.Get it. Larsen B
I'm kind of worried about FTM. Early live versions of the Widow are awesome but the recorded version is conventional and overblown. It's actually more polished without Rick Rubin. I don't want to judge the whole album on it but I doubt it's better than DITC.
