robkevertson
Switching from Mac to pc for recording. alas my old MacBook has given up the ghost.. Can anyone advise on how much ram, hd, processor speed etc required to record maybe 12 tracks per song (Inc the odd software track) .. I will be using mixcraft. cheers
Soda Jerk
I've run Mixcraft with no issues on some low-end PCs. I had a 10 yr old Dell desktop which was awful and Mixcraft still ran pretty well. Bit of lag if you start pushing 10+ tracks, but not unusable. My current laptop is 2.6ghz duo core i7, 12gb ram and it runs it really well, even with tons of VSTs and whatnot. My old HP was only 2.3ghz AMD 8gb RAM and that ran Mixcraft with no problems too. I'd say 8gb RAM should be about the minimum if you want as many as 12 tracks. I think you'd be hard pushed to find a new PC that comes with less than that anyway.
