Moon Moon
okay so iv'e been speaking to a guitar builder down in Glasgow that specialises in acoustic instruments. seeing as i should be starting my job in the next week or two could atleast put a deposit down on it.so far ive got this far; 12 fret grand concert bodyx scalloped bracingsolid figured koa back and sidessolid AAA sitka spruce topone peice Indian Rosewood neck Ebony Fretboardbirdge is a pyramid design with long saddles and is solid black ebonyslotted headstock24.9" long20 fretsfishman mini Q electronics (older model but dont want to comprimise sound by drilling more holes)hoping for waverly tuners what do people think of this? i know it will be an expensive build but i'm sure it will be worth it. not sure on the sitka spruce top though. i'm open to suggestions on parts, woods etc. Edited January 29, 2015 by Moon Moon
HateEvent
My one piece of advice is to ensure you know what YOU want from this guitar in terms of sound & playability. It doesn't come down to anyone else. Of course I (amongst others!) can give advice as to the tonal properties of different materials and so on, but it all depends on what you want from the guitar to allow for suitable recommendations to be made. Out of curiosity, who is the builder?

colb
Jan 9th 2015 - Jossyoaks buys a nice looking Strat. Jan 12th 2015 - Jossyoaks can't pay for nice looking strat and has to sell it because of a loan went wrong from someone he was working for. Jan 29th 2015 - Jossyoaks wastes a luthiers time speccing a custom built acoustic guitar that he intends to pay for with wages from a job he's not started yet. Even at your most deluded you MUST be able to see where this ends up fella?
James Broonbreed
It's not even funny any more. It's fucking horrible. You're getting blocked now, I can't take it any more.

I mean the design is what I'm after it's just the woods. I've based the design on a martin 00-28vs, yet I'm wanting it to be my own.

Alkaline
As it happens though, that guitar would be one worth keeping if you save the money, leave it the fuck alone self-customisation wise and get some mileage out of it by playing the thing for more than 5 minutes before selling it on at a loss. Going down to imported and R&B to dick about and play on guitars with different woods to see what sounds best for what I play.

Moon Moon
So why all the fuss about the strat and borrowing money a couple of weeks ago? it is for emergency. If i liked the strat that much i would've gave him the money out my account.

Who is said luthier that does this? As I'm still in the hunt for my next acoustic and i think I'd like to research This option a bit more. James Broonbreed
You've obviously done your research. I doubt much will go wrong this time.
Bigsby
The great thing about a guitar built by an obscure builder to wacky specs is that it will definitely hold its resale value as well as a Martin.
robkevertson
This is only a good option if you plan to keep it.. If it is an actual option and not pie in the sky you are basically getting a guitar based on your own personal preferences not anyone else's.. I'm not so sure a guitar of this nature is suited to a lad who sells as soon as he receives.. Just buy a decent acoustic and stick with it for a while. All been said before but there is no other reasonable option!
James Broonbreed
You should get a reverse headstock.
