Alkaline
Good form. I also lied when I said Honduras are the worst team in the tournament. They are now a clear favourite. Til the neighbours complained about the smell.
Paranoid Android
Both of these teams should be kicked out of the competition. Do they think it's 2010?
scottyboy
Boring Belgium through then.
Soda Jerk
That game felt like David Moyes was the manager of both teams.
Gladstone
We didn't bother trying until the final 10 minutes. No point tiring ourselves out. Save it for later in the tournament when it really matters. Through after 2 games without breaking sweat. The stuff of champions.
scottyboy
Don't worry, we're just deferring to good etiquette (it's a Confucian thing), which at this tournament says you should let your opponents score a couple. Even when your going to win by four goals.

scottyboy
Or 3 even, can't be outdone by France. Now to score 7.
Paranoid Android
Lovely match that. Nice of them to make up for the shite Belgium and Russia served up earlier.
scottyboy
Bah, really will have to destroy Belgium now, or the boys will be getting fed to the dogs by the dear leader. Or. Wait.Think Korea were similarly strong in the second half, compared to first half Algeria; the difference was much more clinical finishing bg Algeria, and maybe a clanger or two by the Korean goalie and defence. Couple of decent penalty shouts turned down as well.
neepheid
Bah humbug. Losing a goal that close to the end is inexcusable. Terrible mistake in midfield, possession lost, up the park, amazing cross from Ronaldo and BOOM. Annoyed doesn't even begin to describe it. Need something from the Germany game now to be sure. AGH, SO CLOSE.

ca_gere
Gutted at that ending last night. Stupendous cross though. The US should've done a Uruguay in the last 10 mins and played every trick in the book to waste time: take it to the corner flag, feign injury, take ages getting the ball, etc. But no, we're too honest and nice. And that's what you get. Still, we have a 76% chance of going through (trust US analysts to come up with such a specific stat). Does anyone think they'll play for the draw? I can't see it happening. scottyboy
Look at the points in group B: 9-6-3-0, nicely done.
Soda Jerk
Shite, 2nd will do I guess, especially as everyone wrote off Chile with the group they had. Doing over the World Champs was glorious. Credit where it's due, Van Gaal has been exceptional tactically. He's set up a different way in all 3 games to combat the threat. The squad he has is quite poor and he seems to know how to set up a flawed side and make them capable of winning. I don't think they should be ruled out of winning it. Which would be crazy. Players like Leroy Fer, Ron Vlaar and Dirk Kuyt with World Cup winners medals? That'd be something.
Gladstone
Am I making a mistake watching the Brazil game instead of the 2nd place decider?
ca_gere
I'm gonna watch the first half of the Brazil game and if it's not a festival of samba football i'll switch to the other one at half time. But yes, we're probably making a mistake.
Gladstone
Actually it's already 0-0 going on 20 for Brazil. Good choice.
ca_gere
this is a complicated group an early cameroon goal could make things interesting.

Gladstone
That was a beautiful finish. Funny seeing Fred scrambling on the line there. He's been pish in this tournament. Really pish. Edited June 23, 2014 by Gladstone
