Binary School

Binary School is a place for producers and performers of electronic music in Aberdeen and the North East of Scotland to showcase their work.  Our events treat audiences to intimate and informal performances of live electronica and provide a platform for DJs to push the boundaries and introduce us to great music.  We are going to explore the diversity of live electronic performance that is starting to emerge as well as sharing some of the amazing music being produced locally.  It is a great chance to listen to each other, discuss how we achieve our sound and share ideas on production, performance and technique.

Our first event went really well, there was a great atmosphere and everyone was really interested in what was going on.  The plan is to go down the line of recording and filming performances to display on the Binary School website http://www.binary-school.co.uk/.  We also plan to do some short interviews with willing participants on their set ups, how they write and how they go about taking productions to the stage.

One step at a time though, I'm in the process of confirming venues for our next few events.  There are several acts ready to go but we need more so please get in touch by PM on here or binaryschooluk@gmail.com if you are starting to or already perform your electronic music live.  Any producers who would like to have tracks played out on one of our nights should also get in touch - it is always great to hear your tracks played loud.  Also looking for more DJs so if you like to experiment, there isn't a night anywhere in town catering for your style or you have something different you want to explore drop me a line, happy to hear your ideas.

I'll use this thread for updating gig dates and line ups.  Chip in with ideas and feedback if you have any!

Colin

Binary School 003 - Electronic and Experimental Music

The third installment of Binary-School is back in Cellar 35. We have 4 local live electronic performers again. It's great to see this and with such quality and diversity too!

Performing live:
Amanti - electro alt pop
Jay-Sonic - dub/bass/tech
Ross Whyte - ambient electronics
Fake Noises

DJ sets from:
Doc Watson
TBC

This is looking like it'll be another excellent night. We'll keep you posted with any additions to the line up and post some of the music from these guys on the Binary School page.

See you there!
